With 54 lacquer works, this is a powerful comeback, showing the maturity and unique creative style of the female artist from the mountain town of Pleiku, Gia Lai .

Born in 1986 in Nui Thanh ( Quang Nam ), currently living and working in Pleiku (Gia Lai), Mai Thi Kim Uyen graduated from Hue University of Arts, majoring in fine arts education.
In recent years, she has devoted all her time to her creations, working with both oil and lacquer, but increasingly focusing on lacquer.
In 2023, Kim Uyen launched her first solo exhibition "Fancy Girls" at The World ArtSpace (HCMC), creating a strong impression.
In this exhibition, Kim Uyen continues to choose the female image as the center of her creations.

Artist Ho Thi Xuan Thu commented: "When all of Mai Thi Kim Uyen's works are displayed together, viewers feel like they are standing in front of a strong and expressive flow of creative energy."

Kim Uyen's lacquer technique is special in that she combines modern oil painting techniques with traditional lacquer techniques. Where oil paint needs to be expressed, lacquer is used; where lacquer depth is needed, she uses many elaborate layers of sanding.
This is a difficult technique, few people practice it, and Kim Uyen has mastered it to perfection, creating an effect that is both modern and rich in identity.
