International exhibition on modern railway technology held for the first time in Vietnam

From November 12 to 15, at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (VEC), the International Exhibition and Conference on Modern Railway Technology and Infrastructure Construction Supply Chain (VRT & CONS 2025) was held for the first time, gathering nearly 200 domestic and international units, opening a strategic connection forum for the railway industry in the new era.

VRT & CONS 2025 is organized by the Vietnam Railway Authority in coordination with the Railway Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) and the Security Industry Department ( Ministry of Public Security ) with the theme "The future of Vietnam's railway in the global supply chain".

Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Danh Huy delivered the opening speech.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Danh Huy emphasized that in the picture of national infrastructure development, railways play the role of the "backbone" of the transport system, closely linked to the sustainable development goals that Vietnam is aiming for.

According to him, railway development, especially high-speed railways and urban railways, is an inevitable trend, creating new growth momentum, helping to restructure the economy , reduce logistics costs, limit greenhouse gas emissions, promote regional connectivity and international integration, while ensuring national defense and security.

Realizing this importance, the Politburo issued Conclusion 49-KL/TW on the orientation for the development of Vietnam's railway transport. Subsequently, the Government concretized it with Decision 1769/QD-TTg and 2404/QD-TTg, approving and adjusting the Railway Network Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Danh Huy said that this is an opportunity to reshape the face of Vietnam's railway industry, emphasizing that this is a special field, requiring huge investment capital, extremely complex technology, long implementation time and a particularly effective management and operation mechanism.

“This is the reason why VRT & CONS 2025 is so important. More than just a trade show, this event must be a strategic forum for the railway industry. The Vietnamese railway industry is currently in dire need of connecting platforms like this event to aim for the goals of connecting technology, solutions, investment, and supply chains,” the Deputy Minister of Construction emphasized.

VRT & CONS 2025 is organized on an international scale, gathering nearly 200 businesses and organizations from many countries, with more than 120 booths displaying modern products, equipment, solutions and technologies in the field of railway and infrastructure construction - from trains, control signals, TBM, MRO, to construction materials and supporting industrial equipment.

In parallel with the exhibition, a series of conferences, forums, and investment connection seminars were held throughout the 4 days, including a high-level forum, CEO discussion, investment connection conference, career talkshow, and railway technology experience day.

In particular, at the Investment & Partnership Hub, businesses, investment funds and financial institutions have the opportunity to meet, exchange and sign B2B cooperation agreements. Many memoranda of understanding (MOUs) between Vietnamese businesses and international partners have been signed under the witness of leaders of ministries, branches, embassies and international organizations.

The MOUs focus on developing the railway industry supply chain, transferring TBM, MRO, signal-control technology, human resource training and digital transformation in planning, design and operation.

VRT & CONS 2025 not only provides an overview of the modern railway industrial ecosystem, but also opens up opportunities for international connection, investment attraction and technology transfer - key factors for the Vietnamese railway industry to make a breakthrough in the next decade.
