On August 9, AFP news agency reported that North Korea has invited foreign golfers to participate in a tournament in the capital Pyongyang, a sign that North Korea is reopening after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement on the official website of the DPR Korea Tour states that Pyongyang Golf Course hosts a tournament for amateur golfers every spring and fall.
The participants are both Koreans and foreigners.
The post also included the email address and phone number of Ryomyong Golf Tourism Company - part of Pyongyang's official tourism agency - but did not mention when the tournament would take place.
In another post, Pyongyang announced that the Ryomyong Golf Tourism Company has developed additional attractions, including an underwater golf course, an archery range and a boating range.
The Pyongyang golf course was built in the early 1980s and officially opened in 1987, on the occasion of the 75th birthday of North Korean leader Kim Il Sung.
In 2005, Pyongyang Golf Course also hosted an event of the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association.
Last month, China also confirmed that North Korea had registered to participate in the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD 19) scheduled to take place in Hangzhou city in September.
