Submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for approval of authority to carry out the Cat Lai Bridge project, Dong Nai 2

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee submitted to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council a resolution approving Dong Nai province as the competent authority to carry out the investment project to build Cat Lai and Dong Nai 2 bridges under the public-private partnership model passing through the two localities.

On the morning of December 9, at the 6th session of the 10th term Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee presented a draft resolution agreeing on Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee to be the competent authority to implement the investment project to build Cat Lai Bridge, Dong Nai 2 under the public-private partnership model passing through the two localities.

Specifically, the project to build Cat Lai bridge and the road at both ends of the bridge has a design speed of 80km/h, with a scale of 8 lanes. The starting point is on Nguyen Thi Dinh street (about 400m from My Thuy intersection, in Cat Lai ward, Ho Chi Minh City). The end point connects to Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway (in Dai Phuoc commune, Dong Nai province).

Total length is over 11.6km. Of which, the bridge length is over 3km. The total preliminary investment capital is about 20,614 billion VND. Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee is the competent authority to implement the investment under the public-private partnership method, the implementation period is from 2025 to 2028.

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee implements an independent public investment project to expand Nguyen Thi Dinh Street, from My Thuy intersection to Dong Nai River, with a preliminary total investment of VND4,975 billion.

Investment project to build Dong Nai 2 Bridge (Long Hung Bridge) and the road at both ends of the bridge with a design speed of 80km/h, scale of 8 lanes. The starting point intersects with Ring Road 3 at Go Cong intersection, Long Phuoc ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

The end point intersects with National Highway 51, Tam Phuoc Ward, Dong Nai Province. Total length: 11.8km. Of which, the bridge length is 2.34km.

Construction of Dong Nai 2 bridge and DT.777B route connecting to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway intersection, preliminary total investment of 6,411 billion VND. Clearance of the entire route on Dong Nai province side, total investment of 724 billion VND. Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee is the competent authority to invest under the public-private partnership method.

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is implementing an independent public investment project to build a road connecting Go Cong intersection to Long Hung bridge with an investment of 4,218 billion VND. The construction period is from 2025 to 2028.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the traffic connecting Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City is currently mainly by road, rail, and waterway. Of which, road is the main mode of transport. However, with the high density of vehicles, existing roads are overloaded such as National Highway 1, National Highway 51...

The connecting routes between the two provinces have been directed for implementation but still cannot meet the connection needs, especially when Long Thanh international airport officially comes into operation.

The two localities agreed to identify the above bridges as connecting projects, shortening the distance between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau . These are urgent projects that need to be done soon, speeding up progress to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2025 or the first quarter of 2026.
