The core zone encompasses the entire core area of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, encompassing five communes: Bo Trach, Kim Dien, Kim Phu, Phong Nha, and Thuong Trach.
The buffer zone encompasses the entire buffer area of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, encompassing seven communes: Phong Nha, Thuong Trach, Dan Hoa, Truong Son, Kim Phu, Kim Dien, and Bo Trach.

Phong Nha - Ke Bang is one of the largest and oldest tropical karst areas in the world .
According to the leaders of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, the title of World Biosphere Reserve will bring many positive impacts to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, including contributing to the protection of one of the largest and oldest tropical karst areas in the world, with a system of more than 447 caves and many endemic and rare plant and animal species.
This designation also helps attract domestic and international tourists , generating revenue and jobs for local communities through ecotourism, adventure tourism, homestay services, promoting green livelihood models such as sustainable agricultural and forestry production, medicinal plant cultivation, OCOP products, and increasing access to capital, support projects from international organizations and conservation groups.
The title of World Heritage Site will help Phong Nha - Ke Bang attract domestic and international tourists.
Furthermore, this area is important for interdisciplinary research on geology, biology, climate, and indigenous culture, facilitating the organization of environmental education programs and raising community awareness about conservation and sustainable development.
This also presents an opportunity to expand cooperation with other World Biosphere Reserves, National Parks, and conservation organizations worldwide, exchange experiences in management, conservation, environmental monitoring, and sustainable tourism development, and attract international research, training, and investment programs.
In particular, this title affirms the global value of Phong Nha - Ke Bang not only as a World Natural Heritage site but also as a model for integrated resource management and sustainable development, increasing media appeal and promoting the image of Quang Tri province and Phong Nha - Ke Bang to the world.
