
On January 12th, the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor (HCMCFL) announced that it had submitted a proposal to the HCMC People's Committee for recognition and awarding of 11 outstanding individuals who won the 25th Ton Duc Thang Award - 2025.
The 11 individuals include: Mr. Nguyen Van Tan, Deputy Head of the Dispatching Department, Power Transmission Company 4; Mr. Tran Phuong Kiet, Head of Safety Department, Ho Chi Minh City High Voltage Grid Company (Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation); Mr. Huynh Truong Khoa, Production Technical Director, Nissei Electric Vietnam Co., Ltd.; Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Engineer, Intel Products Vietnam Co., Ltd.; and Mr. Vo Tan Dinh, Head of the Mechanical and Electrical Department, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Division, Thong Nhat Rubber Co., Ltd.
Also present were: Mr. Tran Van Thien, Head of GIS Team, Information Technology Department, Ben Thanh Water Supply Joint Stock Company (Saigon Water Supply Corporation); Mr. Doan Huu Cuong, Deputy Head of the Plant Experimentation Department, Ho Chi Minh City Biotechnology Center; Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan, Director of the High-Tech Agricultural Research and Development Center (under the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Agricultural Zone); Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Deputy Head of the Ship Hull Manufacturing Department, Vard Vung Tau Co., Ltd.; Mr. Nguyen Tang Phap, Head of the Production Quality Improvement Department, Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex Co., Ltd.; and Mr. Lam Van Truong, Product Inspection Engineer, Jabil Vietnam Co., Ltd.

These are individuals with outstanding achievements in creative work, numerous initiatives and improvements that bring efficiency and value to the business, a high learning spirit, and enthusiasm in training and passing on their skills to the younger generation.
This year, the Ton Duc Thang Award Organizing Committee received 58 applications (an increase of 14 applications compared to 2024 and the highest number of female applications ever), from 28 participating organizations. The applications covered a wide range of fields: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Electrical Engineering, Refrigeration and Electronics, Information Technology, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Education , Healthcare, Food Processing, Biotechnology, Chemistry, and other fields.

The preliminary selection committee chose 25 outstanding individuals for the final round. From there, the final selection committee, based on core criteria, selected 11 exemplary individuals to be presented to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for recognition and commendation.

The Ton Duc Thang Award is a prestigious award in Ho Chi Minh City, honoring workers and engineers with exceptionally outstanding achievements and remarkable innovative initiatives that benefit their units and businesses. The award is organized by the Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Union. Over the past 24 years, more than 250 outstanding engineers and workers in Ho Chi Minh City have been honored with this prestigious award.

In order to expand and improve the quality of the Award to suit the actual conditions and development trends in the coming years, thereby encouraging more workers, especially those with skills, creativity, and significant contributions to their units and businesses, the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor Unions has increased the prize money from 30 million VND/individual to 50 million VND/individual. Along with this, the award will be expanded to include new eligible individuals in various fields and professions such as economic development, state management, science and technology, etc.

The awards ceremony is expected to take place at the end of January to celebrate the successful conclusion of the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union, term 2025-2030.
