Growing Cymbidiums

(BLC) - Recently, many households in Sin Ho town (Sin Ho district) have been earning a stable income thanks to the model of growing cymbidium orchids. The results have attracted the active participation of people and those who are passionate about this native plant.

In previous years, cymbidiums were grown spontaneously and on a small scale by local people. However, in 2022, implementing Resolution No. 07/2021/NQ-HDND dated March 22, 2021 of the Provincial People's Council stipulating policies on the development of concentrated commodity agriculture in the period 2021-2025 , Sin Ho town has implemented a model of growing cymbidiums in the area.

To ensure the successful implementation of the orchid planting model, the town's Party Committee and government have coordinated with the heads of the areas and villages to mobilize people to register to participate in the model and to support households that register to participate in the model with seeds and materials according to regulations. Up to now, in the town, there have been 20 households registered to participate in planting with over 5,000 pots of orchids that are growing and developing well.

Mr. Bui Van Linh in Zone 1 (Sin Ho town) realized the potential, he was determined to invest in growing cymbidium orchids with the goal of developing the family economy . Initially, with a small quantity and small scale, Mr. Linh bought cymbidium orchid seeds from local people and took care of them himself. By 2022, when Sin Ho town mobilized people to register to grow cymbidium orchids on a larger scale, Mr. Linh boldly registered to grow 250 pots. After nearly 1 year of care, his cymbidium orchid garden began to grow and develop well, creating a beautiful landscape and attracting much attention from local people and tourists.

The orchid growing model implemented by people in Sin Ho town initially brought a stable source of income.

It can be said that the model of growing orchids is being evaluated as potential and bringing many economic and social benefits to the people of Sin Ho town. Orchids not only bring stable income to farmers but also contribute to beautifying the landscape and enhancing the tourism value of the locality. This not only helps to improve the quality of life of local people but also promotes the economic development of Sin Ho district.

The orchid growing model in Sin Ho town is a new point in agricultural development and is a testament to the realization of the resolution of the Provincial People's Council. Many other local farmers are also beginning to pay attention and participate in this model, creating a "new wave" in the development of clean and sustainable agriculture in the locality. Certainly, the orchid growing model in Sin Ho town will continue to be promoted and bring many positive values to the community in the future.

Favored by the climate, orchids grown in the Sin Ho highlands grow quickly and have beautiful flowers.

Along with promoting the development of food, industrial and medicinal plants, Sin Ho also focuses on training and technical advice for people in growing orchids. Local authorities and related units such as the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Agricultural Service Center... organize training courses, workshops on planting techniques, management and care of orchid gardens, helping to improve production capacity, create high quality products, meeting the requirements of the market in and outside the province.

In addition, this model also contributes to reducing illegal forest exploitation. Previously, the wild harvesting of orchids from the forest was a common practice, causing serious consequences to the growth and development of forest trees, destroying the forest environment. However, with the orchid planting model widely deployed in Sin Ho town, market demand is met by producing orchids according to the process, from seeds to care, helping to preserve natural resources in a sustainable way.

People of Ta Phin commune, Sin Ho district take care of and preserve orchids in natural conditions, not only creating vibrant clumps of orchids but also creating a landscape that attracts tourists.

Ms. Luong Thi Thanh Nga - Vice Chairman of Sin Ho Town People's Committee said: With the available potentials and the active mobilization of the Party Committee and the government, Sin Ho Town strives to have over 40 households participating in the model with a scale of 10,000 orchid pots by 2025. Currently, orchids are a new economic development direction that the Party Committee, government and people of the town expect to be the main crop to help the town develop its economy and sustainably reduce poverty.

In the coming time, with cooperation, innovation and strong investment in agricultural production, Sin Ho town will develop more and more, contributing to building a sustainable agricultural sector.
