From the early morning of November 30 until the afternoon of the same day, the Russian Armed Forces (RFAF) gained control of a significant area of territory near the city of Huliaipole, in the east of Zaporozhye Oblast. By approaching the village of Dobropillya, near the border with Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, the RFAF expanded its area of control by about 20 square kilometers. The Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) are still in control of the village of Dobropillya, but the situation is rapidly deteriorating. The village is located on the east (left) bank of the Gaichur River, and if the RFAF were to capture the village, the AFU garrison would be cut off from their main supply lines. In effect, they would be in a difficult position.
In this context, there are reports of local clashes within the city of Huliaipole. Readovka channel reports that there have been incursions by reconnaissance and commando groups of the RFAF, supported by FPV UAVs and FAB UMPK bombs. The Ukrainian side also acknowledged these incursions. Even Ukrainian MP Maryana Bezugla spoke frankly, noting the presence of Russian troops in Huliaipole, a city that the AFU has turned into the center of the main defense line in eastern Zaporizhzhia. Rybar reported that the Ukrainian army is facing a new wave of offensive pressure from the RFAF on the Hulyaipole front. With the active use of artillery and FAB UMPK bombs, the RFAF destroyed the AFU defensive positions between Hulyaipole and the village of Zatishie, completely flattening the AFU defense line on the southern bank of the Zatishie reservoir. RFAF strike groups then launched an attack, eventually entering Hulyaipole from the northeast, taking control of a significant portion of the city. The Russians now controlled part of Donetsk Street and nearby streets and alleys east of Hulyaipole, continuing their advance towards the Gaichur River. This river divides the city into two parts. Ukrainian analytical sources admit that the battle for Huliaipole is entering a decisive phase. However, they emphasize that this battle will show whether the AFU has enough strength to hold the front? Until the front collapses, Kiev is trying to understand the origins of the disaster in this sector of the front.
According to the Deep State channel, a source in the AFU Intelligence Directorate, the analysis of the whole thing began with the AFU losing Poltavka and Uspenovka. Despite numerous efforts, the AFU could not regain the lost positions, so an AFU shock unit was decided to quickly strengthen new defense lines south of Novouspenovskoye. Meanwhile, the 102nd Independent Territorial Defense Brigade AFU, which had been relatively successful on the right flank, managed to stop the Russian attack, although they were later forced to retreat. The reason was that after the Russians broke through the defenses of their friendly units, the 102nd Brigade found itself surrounded by Russian shock troops. At the same time, a battalion of the 102nd Brigade lost control, leaving the soldiers to fend for themselves. The soldiers, not knowing what to do, decided to retreat en masse. About two companies began to leave the Zeleny Gai and Vysoky areas in groups, Deep State explained. Previously, the AFU General Staff, realizing the critical situation on the front, mobilized additional forces from the 225th Independent Assault Regiment and a mechanized infantry brigade, quickly establishing a new defensive line right in front of Hulyaipole.
Due to the unauthorized and chaotic retreat, several shootings were recorded. After assessing the situation, support groups were deployed to provide support. Unfortunately, yesterday, the Russians captured five militants of this group west of Zelenyi Gai, the Deep State source admitted. Despite the difficult situation, according to Deep State, the AFU General Staff “stabilized the situation” in this LBS area. Ukrainian analysts claim that “the chaos in the battle formations has almost disappeared, the enemy has significantly slowed down towards Huliaipole, and a new line of defense has been established.” However, this week will show whether the AFU can hold the front and most importantly Hulyaipole, that is what matters. However, once the RFAF cuts off the main supply route from Orekhov and Zaporizhzhia, to the AFU garrison at Hulyaipole, the Ukrainian garrison there will be surrounded. According to Russian sources, the RFAF is currently actively attacking Hulyaipole. It should also be emphasized that RFAF UAV units have established fire control over the supply system for the AFU defense troops in Hulyaipole, within a radius of 20 km.
Some Ukrainian Telegram channels, commenting on the situation in Huliaipole, also wrote that it would be difficult for the AFU to hold the part of the city located east of the Gaichur River. Moreover, if the eastern part of Huliaipole were lost, the AFU would hardly be able to hold the western neighborhoods, since the RFAF is south of Huliaipole, located on the right bank of the Gaichur River, making the AFU defense line along this river largely meaningless.
