For the first time in history, the Politburo activated a special assistance mechanism, assigning four localities with the highest budget revenues in the country to support four central provinces facing difficulties due to floods: Ho Chi Minh City to help Khanh Hoa province, Hanoi to help Gia Lai, Quang Ninh to help Lam Dong and Hai Phong city to help Dak Lak province. Along with that, hundreds of thousands of tons of goods and necessities from all over the country were directed to the central provinces, especially the flood-hit Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak. That is the embodiment of national spirit, compatriotism, and the endogenous strength of the Vietnamese cultural tradition that has been nurtured for generations.

A bowl of rice filled with love

In the harsh conditions of natural disasters, field kitchens are lit up in the rain and wind. Hot rice is delivered to isolated areas where people are taking shelter; to where soldiers and police officers are working hard to rescue people...

During the days of the flood, members of Mr. Dinh Tan Ky's family (Nam Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province) cooked 8,000 meals. Those meals were personally brought by his family onto the canoe for the rescue team to deliver to the homes of those still trapped. Mr. Ky simply thought that, during the long flood, people would get bored of eating instant noodles and dry food. At this time, hot rice would help people feel full and warm in difficult times...

A small restaurant along National Highway 1 (Dien Khanh Commune, Khanh Hoa Province) is always open during rainy days. The restaurant's special customers are drivers stuck on the road and people fleeing floods... They are touched by the hot meal with full of food and vegetables but the price is only 0 VND. Those customers also clean up and wash the dishes themselves so that the next person can have bowls and chopsticks to eat right away. Some people say this is the most special meal in their life, because it is a meal of humanity in the midst of hardship. It is that humanity that has become the support for everyone to overcome the cold rain together.

Living in the bustling Nha Trang, people never thought that this place would be submerged in water. Escaping the "encirclement" of floodwaters, Mr. Le Van Khiem (70 years old, Tay Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province) recounted that he endured 72 hours in the cold water, no electricity, no phone signal. During that time, the 70-year-old man ate raw instant noodles, drank rainwater... When the flood receded, holding a hot lunch box, Mr. Khiem could not hold back his tears: "Since when have we been hungry all day and night? This is probably the best bowl of rice in my life."

While the floodwaters were still raging, relief teams arrived in time to reach isolated, deeply inundated areas. Together with the authorities, they brought hot lunch boxes, instant noodle packs, water bottles, neatly folded clean clothes, etc. Even though they had gone through many days without rice or water, people remained calm and did not jostle when relief teams came to give gifts. The relief gifts not only alleviated hunger and cold but also brought warmth of love and sharing between people.

Receiving the relief gift, Ms. Tran Thi My Vuong (Phu Huu village, Hoa Thinh commune, Dak Lak province) immediately opened a bottle of mineral water and drank it all in one gulp. For many days, her family had only lived on rainwater collected from the roof and some potatoes and cold rice left in the kitchen. She quickly grabbed a few more bottles of water to bring home to her husband and children. Her eyes were still red, but the woman did not forget to linger a moment to thank the kind-hearted people. "At times like this, just a bottle of clean water is extremely precious!", Ms. Vuong emotionally said.

Hot meals, clean water bottles, and words of reassurance and sharing have helped thousands of people feel more confident in the midst of the flood.

Concentrate on flood victims

During the flood, the support team from Ho Chi Minh City quickly arrived in Khanh Hoa province. Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the City absolutely followed the direction of the Politburo and devoted all its efforts to help Khanh Hoa province overcome the flood. In the immediate future, Ho Chi Minh City will transfer 50 billion VND in support to Khanh Hoa province.

On the morning of November 22, more than 50 doctors were sent to 5 key locations to examine patients and prevent and fight epidemics. Ho Chi Minh City people sent 10,000 gift bags containing essential necessities to flood victims; 10,000 bags of family medicine... In addition, 30 volunteers participated in coordinating the distribution of necessities; 60 kitchen volunteers cooked rice to help people...

Present at the field kitchen set up at Nha Trang University at dawn, the volunteer team here includes students, youth volunteers, Buddhist monks and nuns... The nimble hands prepare food and package relief goods to bring to the flooded areas...

Venerable Thich Minh Phu, Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Social Charity Committee, said that the volunteers, monks, nuns, and Buddhists of Tuong Nguyen Pagoda, along with three container trucks of goods, drove all night, through the rain and wind to arrive in Khanh Hoa early. All with a simple wish to cook hot rice to send to people in flooded areas and the forces that are working hard to help people. Some contributed money, some contributed strength. Each hand, each heart shared the same wish to help people in flooded areas. In human life, we know that when we give, we will receive back...

Up to now, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Khanh Hoa province has received registration and support information from units of 193.5 billion VND; received more than 810 tons of goods including necessities, clothes, blankets, life jackets, raincoats... After receiving, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province has distributed to the damaged localities. Of which, the southern localities of Khanh Hoa province were supported with over 207 tons of goods; coordinated 16 equipment and machinery to serve the work of environmental treatment and remediation...

Assigned by the Politburo to directly support Dak Lak province, Hai Phong city has donated 50 billion VND in cash, many types of medicine, important medical supplies and is continuing to mobilize the entire city to support all resources to help people affected by natural disasters.

As of November 25, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dak Lak province received more than 132 billion VND. The amount of relief goods delivered through the Front's channel was more than 1,500 tons, worth nearly 42 billion VND and more than 4,000 gifts. In addition, Dak Lak province also received aid from the European Union (EU), Catholic Relief and Development Organization (CRS), International Organization for Migration (IOM), ...

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dak Lak province Y Giang Gry Nie Knong affirmed that the timely and valuable help of the people of the whole country will be a great source of encouragement, helping Dak Lak quickly overcome the difficult period, soon stabilize people's lives and restore production...

When the floodwaters recede, human love rises again. These days, many convoys of trucks loaded with goods show the sharing of people from the North and the South. Everyone joins the thread of solidarity; the whole country is opening its arms to "embrace" the Central region!
