The new funding will support local authorities in implementing policies that provide free childcare and education . The school system will be expanded, the quality of education improved, and children from low-income or vulnerable families will receive financial support.
Education experts believe that China's increased investment in early childhood education aims to reduce the financial burden on families and expand access to early education.
The Ministry of Finance stated that this policy will benefit more than 14 million children and help households reduce education costs by more than 20 billion yuan. In the future, the government will continue to coordinate with local authorities to effectively allocate subsidies, ensure the stable operation of kindergos, and improve the quality of early childhood education services nationwide.
According to China's Ministry of Education, during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), the government allocated a total of 126.2 billion RMB to preschool education. Starting in the fall semester of 2025, China will begin waiving tuition and childcare fees for final-year students at public kindergards, while also subsidizing eligible students attending private schools.
