China announces results of China-US Foreign Ministers' talks

China and the United States agreed to jointly implement the important consensus reached at the meeting between the two heads of state in Bali, effectively control disagreements, and promote dialogue, exchange and cooperation.

This is the notable content in the information published by Chinese state media, about the results of the talks between Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, on June 18 in Beijing.

At the meeting, Mr. Qin Gang said that China-US relations are at their lowest level since the establishment of diplomatic relations, which is not in line with the fundamental interests of the people of the two countries, as well as the common expectations of the international community.

The Chinese side strives to build a stable, predictable and constructive China-US relationship; at the same time, it hopes that the US side can have an objective and rational perception; work with China to maintain a good political foundation for bilateral relations; and handle unexpected incidents calmly, professionally and rationally.

Mr. Qin Gang said that the two sides need to fully implement the important common perceptions reached between President Xi Jinping and President Biden in Bali, promote the stability of China-US relations and return them to the right track.

Chinese state media also said that at the talks, the two sides spent a long time having frank, in-depth and constructive exchanges on the overall China-US relationship and related important issues.

Accordingly, the two sides agreed to maintain high-level exchanges; continue to promote consultations on the guiding principles of China-US relations; promote consultations by the joint working group to address specific issues in China-US relations; encourage the expansion of cultural and educational exchanges, actively discuss increasing passenger flights; welcome, support and facilitate mutual visits by students, scholars and businessmen.

During the talks, Mr. Qin Gang expressed China's stance and requests on the Taiwan issue; the two sides exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern.

Previously, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that according to the agreement between China and the US, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will pay a two-day visit to China from June 18-19.
