At 12:11 pm on November 25, Beijing time, China launched the Shenzhou-22 spacecraft, completing the first emergency launch in the country's manned space program.
About 10 minutes after the Long March-2F Y22 carrier rocket lifted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China, the spacecraft separated from the carrier rocket and entered its designated orbit. The China Manned Space Administration declared the launch a success.
The Shenzhou-22 spacecraft has no crew and is carrying only cargo including space food, medical supplies, fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as equipment to handle cracked windows on the Shenzhou-20 spacecraft.
Shenzhou-22 will automatically perform a quick docking and docking process with the system on China's Tiangong Space Station. The spacecraft will then bring the three astronauts of the Shenzhou-21 spacecraft in orbit back to Earth.
The latest launch is part of an emergency launch 16 days after it was planned to return three astronauts of the Shenzhou-21 mission to Earth.
These astronauts had previously given up their spacecraft to three other astronauts of the Shenzhou-20 mission to return to Earth after a long time (since April 24) when they had to stay on the Tiangong station due to an accident./.
