On May 28, the Vietnam Student Sports Tournament (VUG), 3x3 basketball, co-organized by VTVcab and the Vietnam Student Association, officially closed and found the first champions of the tournament.
In the women's final, the National Economics University and the Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports were both determined and ready to give 200% of their strength. And with such a tense and important nature, it is understandable that the game was extremely balanced and exciting in the early stages.
Intense finals in 3x3 VUG basketball
The two teams traded blows for more than half of the first half, the turning point of the match only came after a classy play by Quynh Chi of the National Economics University. From here, the girls of the National Economics University played better and better, they created a series of strong points and created a safe distance from their opponents.
As for Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports, although they tried very hard, they did not do well in the final period of the match, showing a lack of confidence and being stuck in situations of attacking the basket. In the end, the National Economics University won 12-8 and became the national "Queen" of VUG 3x3 basketball. The Trade Union University and Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports finished in third and second place respectively.
In the men's event, Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports entered the match with high determination from all members right from the first minute. However, Foreign Trade University, with the experience of having defeated its opponent once in the regional final, also showed no fear. The two teams were struggling for each point. The game and the score were tied until the last seconds, and here, it was not Duc Anh or Van Thang who spoke up but another name, Tuan Dat from Foreign Trade University, who spoke up with a cool 2-point move to help the home team take a 2-point lead.
Despite great efforts, due to the limited time left, not to mention the ineffective exchange of points for time by Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports when Tuan Kiet was too accurate on the free throw line to help Foreign Trade University win the final 18-15 and take the throne at VUG 3x3 basketball. Second prize in the same category went to Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports, third prize went to University of Transport.
In addition to the main activities, the VUG9 final round was quite exciting with side activities such as the Shoot-out Contest - a competition to find the best 3-point thrower. Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports won this award in both the male and female categories, with the winners being Quach Tuan Hai and Do Thi My Linh respectively.
At the event, the first VUG Dance Battle 1ON1 took place for dancers of all ages to compete. With impressive dance performances, Small Tiger and MK were the outstanding names, winning the championship and runner-up positions respectively.
The VUG 3x3 Basketball Tournament was a success, marking the first time a 3x3 basketball tournament was held at a shopping mall in Vietnam. It can be seen that basketball in particular and Vietnamese sports in general are making strong progress, spreading passion and awareness of sports training to generations of Vietnamese people.
