Developing a practical and relevant "Digital School" model.

Tan Son commune is a mountainous area far from the center of Phu Tho province, with nearly 90% of its population being ethnic minorities. The majority of students are children from farming families with limited economic resources. This reality poses numerous challenges for education and training in the locality, especially in the context of the entire sector accelerating fundamental and comprehensive reforms linked to digital transformation.

Recognizing the crucial role of education in sustainable development, the Tan Son Commune Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term has identified digital transformation as one of its key breakthroughs. In particular, administrative procedure reform linked to digital transformation is considered a key solution to improve the efficiency of state management, better serve the people, and promote development in various fields, especially education and training.

With strong political determination, the locality has implemented many solutions in a coordinated manner, gradually realizing the goal of making digital transformation more substantive and suitable to the conditions of the region.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Tan Son commune will have 10 schools under its management, including 3 kindergartens, 3 primary schools, and 4 secondary schools, with over 4,200 students. Based on the general guidance of the province and the Education sector, the commune has identified digital transformation as an important solution to improve the quality of education and narrow the knowledge access gap between mountainous and lowland areas.

Accordingly, 100% of administrators and teachers in the area actively apply information technology in management and teaching; gradually digitizing professional records, student transcripts, and documents; and focusing on updating and effectively utilizing the education sector's database.

To date, 100% of schools have been connected to the Internet; primary and secondary schools have been invested in with computer labs, equipped with equipment to support the teaching of Informatics and digital learning activities.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hang, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Tan Son commune (Phu Tho province): Promoting digital transformation in education not only aims to meet the development requirements of the new era, but also contributes to improving the quality of local human resources.

Digital transformation helps overcome limitations in infrastructure and access to education, aiming to build a generation of citizens with qualities, capabilities, digital skills, and the confidence to integrate into the global community.

Digital transformation is spreading from management to the classroom.

At Tan Phu Secondary School, digital transformation is implemented synchronously across three areas: school management, teaching organization, and family-school connectivity. In management, the school uses school management software, electronic records, electronic gradebooks, and digital signatures; it implements financial management, document management, and operations in an online environment, gradually replacing the previous manual methods.

In teaching and learning, teachers actively apply the Internet, software, and digital devices to innovate teaching methods, create electronic lesson plans, and organize tests and assessments. Lessons supported by technology help increase visual appeal and dynamism, stimulate learning interest, and promote students' initiative and creativity.

Mr. Tran Manh Dung, Principal of Tan Phu Secondary School (Tan Son commune, Phu Tho province), shared: Digital transformation has significantly helped the school reduce administrative procedures, save time and costs, and enhance transparency in management.

More importantly, the application of technology in teaching has contributed to the development of self-learning skills and digital skills in students—essential competencies in the context of a rapidly developing digital society.

However, the digital transformation process in mountainous schools still faces many difficulties. Technological infrastructure is not yet synchronized, teaching equipment is lacking; digital skills among some teachers and students are uneven; and funding for digital transformation is limited compared to practical needs.

To address existing shortcomings, in the coming period, schools in Tan Son commune will continue to promote digital transformation in a comprehensive, practical, and effective manner. The focus will be on improving the digital capacity of teachers and students; perfecting the digital management system; developing a high-quality digital learning resource library; and strengthening coordination with parents and relevant organizations to build a modern, safe, and friendly educational environment.

Simultaneously, Tan Son commune is stepping up its propaganda efforts to raise awareness among officials, teachers, students, and parents about the role and significance of digital transformation in education. The forms of propaganda are diversified, focusing on introducing good models, effective methods, and exemplary individuals in the emulation movements "Innovation and Creativity in Management, Teaching, and Learning" and "Dedicated and Creative Teachers of Tan Son".

In reality, the introduction of technology into schools has brought about significant changes in the management and organization of educational activities. Many teachers in mountainous areas, who were previously accustomed to traditional methods, have now proactively learned and adapted to the digital environment, gradually changing their teaching mindset towards a modern, student-centered approach.

According to Mr. Trinh Van Mung, Head of the Science, Technology and Information Department (Phu Tho Provincial Department of Education and Training), the specialized departments under the Department will continue to advise on the digital transformation of the education sector to achieve a dual goal: applying the achievements of the fourth industrial revolution to change management, administration, and teaching methods to be adaptive, advanced, and effective; and educating, training, and improving the digital and artificial intelligence competency standards for learners and teachers...
