Posthumously awarding the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal to the soldier who died fighting storm No. 3

Chiều tối 9/9, Cục Tuyên huấn (Tổng cục Politic Quân đội nhân dân Việt Nam) cho biết, President To Lam signed a decision to posthumously award the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal to Captain Nguyen Dinh Khiem (Captain of Company 3, Battalion 1, Brigade 513, Military Region 3) for his outstanding achievements in combat, combat service; performing rescue missions; contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland. 

The President signed a decision to posthumously award the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal to Captain Nguyen Dinh Khiem.

Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khiem was a soldier who sacrificed his life while performing the task of helping people prevent and fight storm No. 3 in Luc Hon commune, Binh Lieu district, province. Quang Ninh. 

Previously, at 8:7 a.m. on September 9, following orders from his superiors, comrade Nguyen Dinh Khiem and his teammates mobilized to help the people of Pat village, Luc Hon commune, Binh Lieu district, Quang Ninh province respond to storm No. 3. During the mobilization to perform his duties in the storm, he was hit by a fallen tree and was taken to Binh Lieu District General Hospital for emergency treatment by his teammates, but due to severe injuries, he died at the hospital.

Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khiem set a shining example of bravery and willingness to sacrifice to protect people's lives and property; contributing to beautifying the image and fine traditions of Uncle Ho's soldiers.

Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khiem was born in 1997, from Yen Mo district, province. Ninh Binh, enlisted in September 9. At the time of his death, he held the rank of Lieutenant. 

On September 9, General Phan Van Giang, Minister Ministry of National Defense signed Decision No. 86/QDP-BQP on the posthumous promotion of officer rank from Senior Lieutenant to Captain for comrade Nguyen Dinh Khiem before the term. 

According to the Military Youth Committee, on September 9, the Central Youth Union Secretariat also decided to posthumously award the "Brave Youth" badge to Captain Nguyen Dinh Khiem./.
