Memories that live on
To commemorate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union , the Youth Union and the Children's Council of Quang Trung commune organized a visit and meeting with veteran Tran Van De.
In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the story unfolds with the soldier's memories of nights marching through the jungle, facing bombs, bullets, disease, shortages of food and medicine; of the sacrifices of comrades and hundreds of battles that have gone down in history.

Students from Thang Town Primary School (Hiep Hoa commune) interacted with historical witnesses during the school's traditional education program. |
Despite the harsh conditions, the soldiers remained steadfast, unwavering in their faith, and determined to complete their mission. Their simple yet profound stories helped the children understand the value of today's peace, a peace bought with the blood, sweat, and youth of countless generations of their ancestors. Concluding the conversation, veteran Tran Van De urged the younger generation to study diligently, train hard, and inherit and uphold the glorious revolutionary traditions of the nation.
Recently, the Youth Union Council of Xuan Cam commune also organized a meeting and discussion between the children and veteran Ngo Minh Khang. As he recounted his heroic days of fighting, the eyes of the former military medic shone with emotion mixed with pride: “Back then, the bombing was fierce. There were days when artillery shells hit our units on the march and in our encampments, causing many of our soldiers to be wounded. Those of us who worked as military medics spent many long nights in the deep forest, bandaging wounds and fighting to save the lives of our comrades amidst the sound of bombs and bullets.”
There were times when food supplies ran low, and my comrades and I shared every last piece of dried rations with the wounded soldiers, hoping that everyone would be safe. Those memories contain not only blood, tears, and suffering, but also an incredibly warm sense of camaraderie.” Time has passed, the war is long over, but those memories remain intact, a testament to the silent sacrifice and unwavering hearts of the soldiers.
Comrade Nguyen Mai Phuong, Secretary of the Youth Union of Xuan Cam commune, said: Organizing conversations between Youth Union members, young people, and historical witnesses is a practical activity to implement the "Stories from the Time of Fire and Flowers" project. Through this meaningful activity, young people are educated about revolutionary traditions, cultivate beautiful ideals, and contribute to continuing and promoting the heroic traditions of previous generations.
Proud of our traditions, we continue to write the future.
The project " Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union participates in preserving and disseminating historical stories" with the theme "Stories of the War-Time" (abbreviated as the "Stories of the War-Time" Project) was launched and implemented by the Central Committee of the Youth Union from July 27, 2025, to July 27, 2026.
The project comprises three programs, with a focus on building the "Memories Live On" campaign, where youth union members will directly meet, talk with, and record the stories of historical witnesses. Simultaneously, it aims to promote and spread "Stories from the War Era" through various creative forms, utilizing technology and digital platforms.
| The dissemination of images of the homeland, the beautiful and meaningful stories of generations of ancestors in the struggle for national liberation and defense of the Fatherland, under the "Stories of the Fiery Era" project, actively contributes to the education of traditions, the cultivation of revolutionary ideals, and the nurturing of patriotism and national pride among young people. |
Immediately after the project was launched, the Bac Ninh Provincial Youth Union promptly developed a plan and implemented it synchronously across all youth union and team branches throughout the province; intensified the organization of exchange and meeting activities with veterans and historical witnesses on the occasion of major national holidays; and organized trips to historical sites to learn about local culture and history…
In particular, the Provincial Youth Union Council organized a video clip creation contest with the theme: "Young Pioneers of Kinh Bac - Proud of the history of our homeland in 2026".
At the end of the competition, the organizing committee received 310 video clips, demonstrating the positive response and enthusiastic participation of children and participating units. The video clips focused on introducing typical stories and images about the history, cultural traditions, and revolutionary spirit of Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac; historical and cultural relics, scenic spots; and cultural figures associated with the localities where the children live and study.
Many video clips were meticulously produced in terms of script, visuals, and sound, featuring fresh and lively presentations, effectively utilizing digital technology, and creating a widespread impact. The competition contributed to traditional education, fostered national pride, and spread positive values about the history and culture of the homeland to the community.
Comrade Ha Thai Son, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union and Chairman of the Provincial Children's Council, stated that: Spreading images of the homeland and the beautiful and meaningful stories of our ancestors in the struggle for national liberation and defense of the Fatherland, as outlined in the "Stories of the Fiery Era" project, contributes to educating young people about traditions, fostering revolutionary ideals and patriotism, and instilling national pride. This helps young people understand their responsibility in continuing and promoting the fine traditions of their forefathers, thereby expressing gratitude through practical actions in their studies, work, and in building and defending the Fatherland.
