Although not as prosperous as many other rural areas, Vinh Thanh hamlet always leaves a positive impression on those who visit. Here, we felt the strong sense of community, the simple, rustic nature of the people, and the enthusiastic spirit of hard work for a better life. The households in the hamlet uphold a strong sense of community, actively practicing a cultured lifestyle, and working together to maintain the title of "Cultural Hamlet" for over 24 years. In their daily lives, the people live harmoniously, equally, and behave in a cultured manner.
In the water hyacinth weaving village of Vinh Thanh hamlet, skilled artisans are always willing to share their knowledge so that people in and outside the hamlet can learn water hyacinth weaving and earn extra income. Ms. Huynh Thi Hanh (62 years old), residing in Vinh Thanh hamlet, shared: “Because of my lonely situation, with my children working far away, everyone in the neighborhood cares, encourages, and helps me both materially and spiritually. I was also taught how to weave water hyacinth baskets, which provides me with an income to cover my living expenses.” According to Ms. Nguyen Hong Thuy - Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of Vinh Thanh hamlet, thanks to the spirit of solidarity, actively helping each other escape poverty, and boldly changing the structure of crops and livestock, applying science and technology to production, the lives of the people in Vinh Thanh hamlet are constantly improving.
For generations, the people of Vinh Tuy commune have been simple, honest, approachable, and hardworking. During the war, Vinh Tuy commune served as a revolutionary base, and its people suffered many sacrifices and losses. Building on the revolutionary traditions of this heroic commune, the Party Committee, government, and people of Vinh Tuy commune continue to strive and work together to build a more prosperous homeland. According to Huynh Thi The, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Tuy commune, recognizing the importance of national unity, the Party Committee and government of Vinh Tuy commune always prioritize leading and directing efforts to strengthen and promote the power of national unity, creating a solid foundation and momentum for the successful achievement of the local socio-economic development goals.
Experience shows that wherever the spirit of solidarity is well-developed, socio-economic development and people's lives are improved. From jointly building new rural areas, improving cultural life, achieving sustainable poverty reduction, to protecting the environment and maintaining security and order, a combined strength has been created, significantly changing the face of rural areas and improving the material and spiritual lives of the people.
The movement for national unity in building a cultured way of life is increasingly spreading widely in the community and is actively embraced by the people. Neighborhood relationships are becoming closer, more intimate, harmonious, and the sense of community is strengthened. The entire Vinh Tuy commune has 22 hamlets recognized as "Cultural Hamlets," achieving a 100% rate; and 6,505 cultural families, reaching over 95%. Thanks to the active support of the government and local authorities, the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance has been strongly fostered within the community. By the end of 2025, the poverty rate in the commune is expected to decrease to 3.15%.
The people of the commune have also responded positively to the new rural development program through concrete and practical actions, especially by voluntarily donating land, contributing funds, and providing labor for the construction of rural roads. To date, the commune has basically completed its rural infrastructure, with a fairly complete road network connecting the area, creating favorable conditions for people to travel and trade goods. Vinh Tuy commune has taken advantage of investment resources to build a comprehensive infrastructure that meets the needs of the people; implemented agricultural restructuring, shifting the structure of crops and livestock to suit natural conditions; promoted the application of scientific and technical advancements in production; and improved the quality of operations of various types of cooperatives and associations, expanding production linkages and product distribution.
The economy of Vinh Tuy has developed considerably. The commune has 8 cooperatives and 60 cooperative groups in operation. The cultural and social sectors have seen many positive changes, and social security is ensured. The lives of the people are constantly improving, with average per capita income reaching over 73 million VND/person/year.
