Comrade Vo Van Tan was born in 1891, in Duc Hoa village, now My Hanh commune, Tay Ninh province. In the 1920s, from the patriotic movements of this period, many outstanding individuals emerged, including comrade Vo Van Tan, an outstanding son of Duc Hoa hometown, who had the merit of establishing the first Communist Party cell in Duc Hoa.
Vo Van Tan High School Youth Union held a ceremony to admit more than 150 students to the Youth Union at Vo Van Tan Park.
As a member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Southern Regional Party Committee, comrade Vo Van Tan devoted all his efforts to building the revolutionary movement during the most difficult times.
In mid-1940, he was captured by the enemy along with a number of other high-ranking Party officials at a secret agency in Hoc Mon. Despite being brutally tortured by the enemy, he still maintained the integrity of a staunch communist soldier.
On July 6, 1941 (Lunar calendar), comrades Vo Van Tan, Ha Huy Tap, Nguyen Huu Tien and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai fell bravely before the enemy's guns, leaving deep sorrow in the hearts of comrades and compatriots.
Today, his name is engraved in monuments, streets and especially schools named after him. In My Hanh commune, Vo Van Tan High School has become the pride of teachers, students and local people.
With the attention of former President Truong Tan Sang and sponsors, the school has officially come into operation since 2024. Principal of Vo Van Tan High School Huynh Cong Thanh said: "The school is named after Vo Van Tan, a staunch revolutionary, I as well as the staff, teachers and students of the whole school feel very proud and honored. Over the past year, the school has strived to achieve many outstanding achievements in studying and training as well as many other movements."
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Manh Hung awarded scholarships to students of Vo Van Tan High School on the occasion of the opening of the new school year.
After only one year of operation, the school has achieved many encouraging results. The quality of education has been clearly improved, reflected in the increase in the rate of good and excellent students; In the 2024-2025 school year, 100% of students passed the high school graduation exam, many of whom achieved high scores. In addition, the school has 5 students who are excellent in culture at the provincial level, with 1 student winning first prize in Literature.
Entering the 2025-2026 school year, Vo Van Tan High School has 48 classes and more than 2,100 students. The school continues to innovate teaching methods, encourage students to do scientific research, and at the same time focus on training skills, ethics and nurturing revolutionary ideals for the younger generation.
Nguyen Pham Hai Tho - a 12th grade student at Vo Van Tan High School, expressed: “Studying in a school named after the patriotic revolutionary Vo Van Tan is a great honor and pride that I always carry with me on my journey of youth. This is not only a school but also a symbol of the indomitable spirit of the nation. Teachers always remind us of the spirit of resilience and noble sacrifice, so that we have more motivation to promote good traditions, strive to study and practice, worthy of the sacrifice of our ancestors”.
The school named after the staunch communist soldier Vo Van Tan is not only a place to foster knowledge but also a support for today's young generation to inherit and promote the indomitable, brave and resilient spirit of the heroic homeland of My Hanh./.
