Ban Chang Reservoir (Ngan Son)
According to statistics from the functional sector, currently, in the province there are a total of 2,442 large, medium and small irrigation works, of which 35 are reservoirs (including 11 large reservoirs, 10 medium reservoirs, 14 small reservoirs), the capacity of the reservoirs is mainly under 1 million m³, there are 3 reservoirs with a capacity of over 1 million m³; there are 41 small pumping stations which are electric pumping stations, oil pumping stations, hydraulic pumps, the rest are dams and channels, of which 3 dams have a dam height of more than 5 m. In addition, in the province there is also a canal system with a length of about 2,328 km, of which 1,592 km of canals have been solidified, accounting for about 68%.
Irrigation works and intra-field canal systems serving production are invested in upgrading, renovating, and operating well and ensuring safety every year. Of these, 389 works are assigned to Bac Kan Irrigation Works Management and Exploitation Company Limited to manage and exploit about 8,700 ha/year and 2,053 works are managed by the People's Committees of districts and cities to irrigate about 11,000 ha/year.
With a relatively complete system of irrigation works and canals, it has met the proactive irrigation needs for agricultural production at about 76%.

At the same time, regulate and distribute water promptly to drought-affected areas; apply alternate irrigation measures, wet-dry irrigation; prioritize remote areas to irrigate first, nearby areas to irrigate later; ensure water according to demand and suitable for the growth and development period of crops; proactively regulate water from reservoirs into the canal system to support drought prevention for areas at risk of drought; proactively coordinate with hydroelectric reservoirs in the province to regulate water reasonably to serve people's lives and agricultural production, ensuring compliance with the approved reservoir operation process.../.
