“Confidence, autonomy, self-reliance, self-strengthening, national pride”

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day (1944 - 2024), General Secretary To Lam , Secretary of the Central Military Commission, met and encouraged representatives of the young generation in the Army.

At the meeting, General Secretary To Lam advised that the youth of the Army must build great ambitions in the spirit of "confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, national pride", creating mettle and intelligence, great and lasting values, placed in a high sense of responsibility to the Fatherland and the people, firmly protecting independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, national and ethnic interests, protecting revolutionary achievements, and increasing Vietnam's contribution to world peace , the global economy and human civilization.

Organize and participate in many key activities

During the celebrations and important political events of the Party, State and Army, the Army youth successfully organized many key activities. Notable ones were the art program "Dien Bien Phu - Aspiration for the Country" and the summary of the Contest to learn about the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory; the art exchange program - youth discussion "Continuing the heroic epic of victory" and the summary and awarding of the Contest to learn about the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; the March to the Source program - art exchange, continuing the tradition of "Raising the August Red Flag"...

The Army Youth also won first prize in the 2023 "Light of the Way" Olympic Competition; won first prize in the final round of the "Pride of Vietnam" Competition...

Shining the spotlight on outstanding young faces and promising young faces of the entire army

In the 2022 - 2025 period, the entire army has nearly 7,000 union members and youths being commended at all levels; at the entire army level, there are: 30 outstanding young faces, 138 promising young faces, 6 outstanding young Vietnamese faces, and 3 promising young Vietnamese faces.

In particular, from 2022, the commendation program will be organized at the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense level. This is a recognition and special attention of the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense for the activities of the Army's youth, a great spiritual motivation for cadres, union members and youth to continue to strive and be determined to achieve high results in their work; affirming the value, significance, effectiveness and high influence of the activities of voting and commending outstanding young faces and promising young faces of the entire army.

Pioneer in innovation

In the period of 2022 - 2025, the Youth Creativity movement and the Youth Creative Award activities in the Army continue to leave a strong mark. The campaign "Each youth has a creative idea" has been well implemented, with a total of 2,213 works from 129 units participating in the award, of which 1,164 works were awarded, and 6 groups were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Prime Minister.

The number of projects has increased, each year higher than the previous year; the subjects and participants of the award continue to be expanded, attracting a large number of young cadres, lecturers, technical experts, defense workers and contract workers in 11 specialized fields. The quality of projects and initiatives is increasingly high, with practical effects on defense - security and socio-economics.

Youth of the Army with "Spring in the border and islands - Tet full of military-civilian affection"

This is a unique and special model of the Army youth to encourage and share some of the material and spiritual difficulties and hardships with compatriots and soldiers in the border and island areas of the Fatherland on the occasion of Tet and Spring.

Every year, the program is held at 350 locations nationwide, with rich content, diverse forms, different scopes and scales. In 3 years, the program has given away 62 "100 Dong Houses", hundreds of thousands of Chung cakes, Tet cakes, gifts, scholarships, bicycles, household items, seedlings; tens of thousands of people have been examined, consulted and given free medicine and many activities to celebrate Spring and Tet...

The program "Military Day" and the Tree Planting Festival "Forever grateful to Uncle Ho" are also held enthusiastically and widely in agencies and units with more than 2 million new trees planted each year.

Spreading the spirit of rule of law

Implementing the Project "Promoting the role of the People's Army in participating in the dissemination and education of law, mobilizing people to comply with the law at the grassroots level for the period 2021-2027" (Project 1371), the period 2022 - 2025 has had many typical examples and models.

Notably, the extensive organization of political activities with the theme "Youth of the Army voluntarily study and comply with the law"; "Youth of the Army with the law" contest; "Youth of the Army with traffic culture" festival and contest; "Love for the border, sea and islands" festival; "I love my homeland's sea and islands" contest...

A bright spot in the youth volunteer movement nationwide

Over the past three years, the Youth Month, March Border Month and Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign activities have been bright spots in promoting the vanguard and volunteer role of the Army's youth.

The entire army has deployed and carried out nearly 10,000 youth projects and tasks; 722 green summer campaign teams, 336 pink holiday campaign teams, 423 exam season support teams; repaired more than 400 km, renewed nearly 90 km of roads; participated in hundreds of coastal cleaning activities, collected more than 500 tons of waste; organized 112 sessions of law dissemination and drug prevention for over 24,000 people; 150 semester classes in the army, with nearly 20,000 children participating; 400 career counseling sessions, with more than 40,000 comrades participating.

Grassroots organizations of the Youth Union at all levels have established 1,490 Digital Popularization Teams with more than 16,000 members; established and maintained 661 teams with 4,978 cadres, union members, and youths participating in coordinating and supporting the operation of the 2-level local government model...

Help people prevent and fight natural disasters, rescue and relief

Faced with the complicated situation of natural disasters, storms, floods, and fires in recent times, hundreds of thousands of cadres, union members, and youths of the Army have promptly been present in vulnerable, difficult, arduous, and dangerous places, taking the lead in flood and storm prevention and control, search, rescue, and overcoming the consequences after storms.

Young soldiers faced many dangers but still moved forward to rescue, bring people and property to safety; search for missing victims... There were heroic comrades who sacrificed their lives while on duty.

The Army's youth is also the core and vanguard force in helping the people of Myanmar and Türkiye overcome the earthquake disaster... The actions of the Army's youth have set a shining example of the bravery, will, and courage of "Sacrificing oneself for the people" of our Army, further enhancing the beautiful image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the hearts of the people and international friends.

Improve skills and expertise in Youth Union work and youth movements

Implementing the Project on training and fostering cadres of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, period 2023 - 2027, every year, training courses on skills, professional work of the Union and youth movements in the Army are organized.

The training course helps trainees to be equipped and updated with comprehensive knowledge; practice skills, methods, and professional skills in Youth Union work, movement organization skills; advise, coordinate and implement Youth Union activities and youth movements at the grassroots level.

At the same time, every year, agencies and units organize more than 200 training courses for nearly 10,000 Youth Union officials at all levels; introduce 10,000 - 12,000 Youth Union members to participate in Party awareness training courses; introduce and admit nearly 9,000 outstanding Youth Union members into the Party; and organize well the Consulting and Job Introduction Day for soldiers who have completed their military service.

Promoting international cooperation and exchanges with young officers

The 2022 - 2025 period has seen new and outstanding steps in the program of exchanging young officers of the Vietnam People's Army with armies of other countries.

Delegations of young officers from Vietnam and China, Cuba, India, Russia, the Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, and Laos visited and exchanged in each country. The delegation of the Army's youth participated in the International Youth Festival in Russia and Belarus, the ASEAN-China exchange in China, "The journey I love my Fatherland" in Japan under the program of the Central Youth Union, the Vietnam-Cambodia, Vietnam-Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange program; organized a training course for officers of the Lao People's Army closely, ensuring absolute safety.

The activities have contributed to promoting the cultural beauty, good sentiments of the people and the image of the country and people of Vietnam, the nature and fine traditions of the Vietnam People's Army, maintaining the position and international prestige of our country and Army in the international arena.
