An eco -tourism resort in Con Tien commune, Quang Tri province, has just unveiled a 7-meter-tall statue of Saint Giong riding a horse, cast in reinforced concrete, aiming to create a highlight to attract tourists during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse. This artwork quickly became a sensation on social media and attracted a large number of people to admire it.
The statue depicts the majestic Saint Gióng, clad in iron armor, wearing a helmet, holding a bundle of bamboo, and riding on horseback. Artist Trương Thiện Tâm (born in 1992, residing in Triệu Bình commune, Quảng Trị province ) and his collaborators spent three months completing this work.

According to Mr. Tâm, the biggest challenge is how to make the statue not only beautiful but also to capture the spirit and demeanor of Saint Gióng and the strength of the horse.
"The statue is large and made of reinforced concrete, so every detail must be precisely calculated to ensure it is beautiful and safe. The face of Saint Giong and the muscle lines of the horse require meticulous attention to detail; even a slight deviation would ruin its powerful appearance," said artisan Tam.
In particular, the bamboo grove – a symbol associated with the legend of Saint Gióng – is skillfully sculpted by artisans using various types of steel, giving each bamboo branch a soft, graceful, and "soulful" appearance.

Upon its appearance, the statue of Saint Giong received much praise from the online community for its beauty, its "soulful" appearance, and the talent of the artisans. In recent days, a large number of people, especially young people and students, have flocked to the tourist area to admire it and take souvenir photos.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoang (born in 1997, residing in Le Thuy commune, Quang Tri province) commented: "The statue is meticulously crafted, possesses a majestic aura, and feels very lifelike when viewed in person. The image of Saint Giong riding a galloping horse, clad in iron armor, is not only beautiful in its form but also evokes a heroic and powerful spirit. This is an interesting check-in spot that will surely attract many visitors to admire and take photos."
Ms. Le Thi An (born in 1967, residing in Quang Tri ward) and her family traveled nearly 30km to admire the statue. She shared: "It was beautiful in the photos, but seeing it in person is even more impressive. There's a misting system at the base of the statue that creates a magical, 3D effect. I took many photos to keep as memories and to show my children and grandchildren."

Ms. Hoang Thi Huong, owner of the eco-tourism area, said that the choice of the statue of Saint Giong riding a horse was to welcome the Year of the Horse (Binh Ngo).
"In the festive atmosphere of Tet and the early days of Spring, we want to convey the message 'The galloping horse of Saint Giong ushers in the spring, igniting the aspirations of Vietnam.' This is not only a New Year's greeting but also a reminder of the core values of the Vietnamese people: patriotism, resilience, aspiration for progress, and a spirit of dedication," Ms. Huong shared.
Besides the statue of Saint Giong, many artisans in Quang Tri are rushing to complete models and statues of horses to display during Tet and early year festivals. In recent years, the Tet mascot artworks of Quang Tri artisans have always attracted great attention from the community, notably the Tiger (2022), Cat (2023), Dragon (2024) and Snake (2025).
