At the 33rd SEA Games, the competition for the gold medal in women's volleyball is a private affair between the four teams: Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines and host Thailand. Considering past achievements and current strength, if nothing changes, the final will still be two familiar names: Vietnam and Thailand.
The results of the draw for women's volleyball at the 33rd SEA Games put the host team Thailand in Group A with the Philippines and Singapore. Meanwhile, Group B includes the women's volleyball teams of Vietnam , Indonesia, Myanmar and Malaysia.

Recently, coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai announced the list of the Thai team with familiar names such as: main attacker Jcharaporn Kongyot, Chatchu-on Moksri, Sasipapron Janthawisut, Kuttika Kaewpin and Warisara Seetalert; opposite player Pimpichaya Kokram; middle attackers including Thatdao Nuekjang, Hattaya Bamrungsuk, Wimonrat Thanaphan and Kanyarat Kunmueang; setter: Pornpun Guedpard and Natthanicha Jaisaen; libero including Piyanut Pannoy and Kallyarat Kamwong.
This is the team that participated in 2 SEA V-League rounds in August and are also the names that have played consistently in the past year of Thai women's volleyball.
In contrast to Vietnam, the Thai Volleyball Federation aims to win gold medals for both the men's and women's teams in the Games held on home soil. As for the women's team, Thailand has reached the finals 14 times in a row (since 1995) and won the SEA Games gold medal - an achievement that is almost impossible for any team to achieve in the regional arena.
However, the Thai women's volleyball team has never had to fear Vietnam as much as it does now. Witnessing the rising strength of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team in the past 2 years, the Thai people have reason to worry at this SEA Games.
Thailand’s worries only eased when the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team did not have Bich Tuyen. The 2000-born spiker scored 45 points, helping coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet’s team defeat Thailand for the first time to win the SEA V-League 2025 championship (stage 2).

But certainly host Thailand must still be extremely cautious in their journey to defend their gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games. Striker Pormpun cautiously said: "Thailand cannot underestimate the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, because they still have other very high-quality players."
The dangerous hitters on the Vietnamese side that Pormpun wants to mention are Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, or athletes in high form such as Kim Thanh, Lam Oanh, Kieu Trinh, Khanh Dang...
Defeating Thailand in the second round of SEA V-League 2025 brought great confidence to coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team. From SEA V-League to SEA Games is a completely different story, but never before have Thanh Thuy and her teammates been so eager to overthrow the Thai dominance as in SEA Games 33.
