In 2023, a total of 143 ethnic minority students and youth were honored by the Ethnic Committee. This is also an annual event to honor and commend those who have overcome all difficulties and challenges to achieve excellent results in their studies and training.
Attending the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang emphasized the policies and guidelines of the Party and Government. The Prime Minister directed all levels and sectors to prioritize investment resources to developeducation and training in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Up to now, important, comprehensive and very encouraging results have been achieved.
However, due to low starting point and specific difficulties and limitations, ethnic minority and mountainous areas have not yet escaped the state of underdevelopment.

Therefore, with the increasing number of excellent ethnic minority students and typical youth examples in the fields of labor and production, he hopes that these will be factors contributing to the construction of the homeland and country, soon helping ethnic minority and mountainous areas escape from underdevelopment and difficulties.
"The 143 outstanding ethnic minority students and youths selected for recognition represent millions of ethnic minority students and youths across the country. They are beautiful flowers, the pride of their families and villages, and convincing evidence of the development in the field of ethnic education," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Speaking at the commendation ceremony, Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh said that the commendation program in 2023 has many new and outstanding points compared to previous years such as: the criteria for selecting students and young people are higher than previous years (in 2023, students who are admitted to university with 28 points or more will be selected, excluding priority points; in 2022, students with 27 points or more will be selected).
In 2023, the number of ethnic groups and localities with students and youth selected for the highest commendation ever.

The students’ academic achievements show the effectiveness of the investment policy in developing education and training, improving the quality of human resources in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. At the same time, it also demonstrates the ability, determination, will and aspiration of the young generation of ethnic minorities to become people with enough heart, enough capacity and talent.

Always be shining examples, inspiring and arousing the desire to reach out for the young generation of the whole country in general, for ethnic minority and mountainous areas in particular, contributing to building villages, homelands and the country to become more and more prosperous" , Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh emphasized.
Among the 143 outstanding ethnic minority students, exemplary youth include: 38 students won First, Second, and Third prizes in the National Excellent Student Competition for the 2022-2023 school year; 4 students won First, Second, and Third prizes in the National Science and Technology Competition.
30 students were admitted to universities and academies with a total score of 28 points or more according to the combination of three subjects for university admission (excluding priority points); 9 students from ethnic groups with special difficulties were admitted to universities; of which 3 students are from ethnic groups with a population of less than 1,000 people.
In addition, there are 2 students who won Gold and Bronze medals in national sports competitions; 29 young people with excellent achievements in work and successful startups; 31 students with outstanding achievements selected by provinces and localities.
