Vietnam women's team leaves for SEA Games, begins journey to defend gold medal

(Dan Tri) - This morning (December 2), the Vietnamese women's football team left Ho Chi Minh City for Thailand, beginning their journey to defend the Gold Medal (HCV) in women's football at the SEA Games.

At the SEA Games, the Vietnamese women's football team is the defending champion, having won gold medals in four consecutive editions (in 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2023). The goal of the team under coach Mai Duc Chung this time is to defend this gold medal.

Last night, coach Mai Duc Chung finalized the list of 23 players. Notably, this list still has familiar names to Vietnamese women's football fans, such as striker Huynh Nhu, Hai Yen, midfielder Bich Thuy, Thai Thi Thao, defender Hoang Thi Loan, goalkeeper Kim Thanh...

All matches of the women's football event of the 33rd SEA Games will take place in Chonburi (more than 100km from Bangkok). The Vietnamese women's football team is in Group B with Malaysia, Myanmar and the Philippines.

Therefore, after leaving Ho Chi Minh City this morning, the Vietnamese women's football team will take a flight to Bangkok (Thailand), before the whole team travels by road from Bangkok to Chonburi.

We will have our opening match against Malaysia on December 5. Then, on December 8 and December 11, the Vietnamese women's football team will meet the Philippines and Myanmar teams respectively.

The semi-finals of the women's football event will take place on December 14. The final and bronze medal match of this event will take place on December 17.
