On the morning of December 9, before the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung met and encouraged the Vietnamese Sports Delegation in Thailand. Here, the leaders of the delegations reported on the major difficulties that the teams, especially the women's football team, are facing in the first days of the Games.
According to Mr. Tran Anh Tu, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the most worrying thing is the travel problem of the Vietnamese women's team.
Specifically, the distance from the team's gathering place to the training ground is up to 40 km, while the road is small and often congested, making the travel time longer. During rush hour, the players have to sit in the car for up to 1.5 hours each way. There are days when it takes up to 4-5 hours just to travel to and from the training ground. Mr. Tu emphasized and suggested that the Organizing Committee should soon arrange a closer training ground.

In addition, the nutritional issue also made the two football teams uneasy. The meals at the hotel did not meet the requirements for athletes to compete at the highest level. The delegation proactively solved the problem when the U22 men's team received support from the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand, while the women's team had to buy extra food from outside to supplement their nutrition.
Listening to the report, Minister Nguyen Van Hung also expressed his understanding of the athletes' hardships and affirmed that he would work immediately with the host country to improve training conditions.
However, the Minister also noted that changing the training location when the congress has taken place is very difficult, so the teams need to flexibly adapt and at the same time share with Thailand's organizing work.

The Vietnamese women's team currently has only 3 points and must win in the final round if they want to enter the semi-finals.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister sent words of encouragement to the entire team, hoping that the players would maintain their determination, compete honestly and nobly for the country's flag, and contribute to bringing glory to Vietnamese sports.
SEA Games 33 officially took place from December 9 to 20. The Vietnamese Sports Delegation participated in 47/50 sports, aiming to win 110-120 gold medals and be in the top 3 of the entire delegation.
