* On the afternoon of January 13th, Mr. Vu Dinh Hung, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Tuyen Quang province, announced that the Department has officially announced the third subject in the entrance exam for 10th grade in public high schools for the 2026-2027 school year. This aims to help educational institutions, students, and parents proactively prepare for this important exam.
Accordingly, the third subject chosen for the exam is Natural Sciences. The selection of the exam subject was made based on the Regulations on Secondary and High School Entrance Examinations issued with Circular No. 30/2024/TT-BGDĐT of the Ministry of Education and Training, as well as based on guiding documents from the Ministry of Education and Training and directives from the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province.
Mr. Vu Dinh Hung stated that, regarding the exam format, the Natural Sciences subject will be tested using objective multiple-choice questions, with a time limit of 90 minutes. The exam paper will be developed with multiple versions within the same examination room, ensuring that no two adjacent candidates have the same version. Candidates will answer on a multiple-choice answer sheet, and the results will be graded using grading software.
Regarding the exam content, the questions are designed to align with the learning objectives of the subject and the goals of the lower secondary level according to the 2018 General Education Program. The exam adheres to the structural framework and exam matrix issued by the Department of Education and Training, ensuring accurate assessment of students' abilities; and is also consistent with the current direction of reform in testing and evaluation in general education.
The Department of Education and Training of Tuyen Quang Province requests that junior high schools and affiliated units promptly inform administrators, teachers, students, and parents about the regulations. This will enable them to proactively develop teaching and review plans, contributing to the safe, serious, and compliant organization of the 2026-2027 high school entrance examination in the province.
* The Nghe An Department of Education and Training has issued a notice regarding the subjects, format, and time allotted for the entrance exam to grade 10 of high school for the 2026-2027 academic year. Foreign language is the third subject chosen by Nghe An for the 2026 exam.
Accordingly, the entrance exam for 10th grade in the 2026-2027 school year in Nghe An will consist of three subjects: Literature, Mathematics, and Foreign Language. This is the second year that Nghe An has chosen a third subject, Foreign Language. This option has also been supported by many parents and students, making it easier for students and schools to prepare for the exam.
Specifically, Literature and Mathematics exams are essay-based, with a time limit of 120 minutes per subject. For the Foreign Language exam, candidates can choose either English or French, and the exam is multiple-choice with a time limit of 60 minutes.
The determination of examination subjects, examination format, and examination time is carried out according to the Regulations on admission to junior high schools and senior high schools issued together with Circular No. 30/2024/TT-BGDĐT dated December 30, 2024, of the Ministry of Education and Training.
The entrance exam for 10th grade in Nghe An is considered a stressful exam for junior high school students. Every year, the pass rate for admission to public schools is only about 75%.
The entrance exam for 10th grade in the 2026-2027 school year is considered to have the largest number of candidates ever, with over 57,000 students. In contrast, the previous year only about 46,000 9th-grade students registered to take the exam or apply for admission to 10th grade.
The Department of Education and Training also requested that schools organize teaching and review sessions for students according to the structured format and sample exam questions to help them familiarize themselves with and prepare for the exam. The scope of knowledge covered is primarily within the 9th grade curriculum, with 70% of the questions at the recognition level, 20% at the comprehension level, and 10% at the application level, all based on the 2018 General Education Program.
