Admissions 2026: A medical school requires math, refuses to convert IELTS

(Dan Tri) - The first medical school in the country announced its 2026 enrollment plan, requiring math for admission and the school refused to convert foreign language certificates.

Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine has just announced its expected enrollment plan for 2026.

Accordingly, the school uses 3 admission methods for 13 training majors including considering high school graduation exam results, direct admission according to admission regulations and using other methods.

This year the school opened a new major: Anesthesia and Resuscitation Technology.

For the admission subject combination, the high school graduation exam results are considered on a 30-point scale (no coefficient). This school requires that the compulsory subject in the admission combination is math and does not apply a difference in admission scores between the combinations.

For majors using a combination of admission subjects including English, it only applies to candidates with high school graduation exam scores in English in 2026. The school does not consider foreign language certificates to convert into admission scores.

School representatives informed that the enrollment target for 2026 will increase compared to 2025.

In 2025, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine will recruit 1,920 students, of which the Medical major will recruit the most with 790 students.

The subject combinations this school will use for admission in 2025 include B00 (math - chemistry - biology), B03 (math - literature - biology), B08 (math - English - biology), A00: (math - physics - chemistry), A01 (math - physics - English).
