At Dong Hoa 3 Primary School, the propaganda session attracted nearly 600 students to participate. From early morning, the police force coordinated with teachers to prepare boards, illustrative signs, and simulated situations for students to easily visualize. The session opened with fun questions about familiar signs on the road such as one-way streets, schools, bicycle lanes, etc. Many students were excited to try to guess the meaning of each type of sign, creating an exciting atmosphere.
In the propaganda section, Dong Hoa Commune Police introduced the road traffic sign system including prohibition signs, danger signs, command signs and directional signs. Instead of just reading, copying or presenting theory, the propaganda officers used visual methods combined with questions and answers and presenting real-life situations. This method helps children remember and understand easily, suitable for the psychology of primary school age.
In addition to the content of traffic sign recognition instructions, Dong Hoa Commune Police also informed teachers and students about the current situation of road traffic safety violations among teenagers. Captain Nguyen Bao Anh - Dong Hoa Commune Police said that recently, the area has recorded a situation where some students ride bicycles across the street without observing, speeding, recklessly overtaking or joking on the street after school hours, potentially causing accidents. Traffic volume on inter-commune routes and roads to schools is increasing, so educating and equipping students with knowledge of traffic safety laws is considered an important task that needs to be carried out regularly.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hon - Head of Dong Hoa Commune Police emphasized the importance of educating students about traffic safety laws through the sign system. “This is an intuitive, easy-to-understand method that is suitable for the perception of teenagers and children. Equipping students with the ability to recognize traffic signs not only helps them grasp legal regulations but also forms the habit of observing when participating in traffic. Students, especially primary school students, easily absorb information through images, so when teaching with visual models, real signs or simulated situations, they will remember and apply more easily. We will continue to innovate content and methods, combine more games and real-life situations to create interest for students. The goal is to help students understand correctly, remember for a long time, and follow the regulations,” said Lieutenant Colonel Hon.
Kieu Phuong Linh, a 5th grader at Dong Hoa 3 Primary School, shared: “Before, I only knew a few basic signs like stop or no motorbikes, but after today's lesson, I learned many more. I also know how to cross the street correctly and understand the fines for violating traffic safety regulations.” Nguyen Tran Gia Hao, a 2nd grader, excitedly said: “The police officer taught me a lot of fun, playing and learning at the same time. Through this propaganda session, I learned that observing while driving is very important. If I don't look in front and behind, I can easily get into a collision.”
Through visual, lively and close propaganda sessions, students of Dong Hoa commune not only master knowledge about traffic signs and laws but also form habits of participating in traffic safety. This is an important first step in building a young generation that is aware, civilized, protects themselves and contributes to reducing traffic accidents in the community.
