At this time of year, when traveling through the Mang Den pass (the section belonging to Dak Rve commune, Quang Ngai province ), many tourists slow down or even stop their vehicles on the roadside to admire the scenery of thousands of crape myrtle trees changing their leaves.

Young and old leaves intermingle, changing color before they've all fallen, creating overlapping patches of color, with no two trees alike. This uneven color transition makes the entire forest seem to be "in motion," each viewpoint offering a different hue, from vibrant to subdued.

Viewed from above, the forest evokes the image of a giant oil painting, where nature freely paints vibrant, unrestrained lines. The crape myrtle forest stretches along the stream at the foot of the pass. On either side of the water, the tall trees with their wide-spreading canopies cast their reflections onto the crystal-clear stream, creating an expansive space where the forest and the flowing water blend together.

At this time of year, the waters of Mang Den stream are crystal clear, with many sections of waterfalls cascading down in a white sheet against a backdrop of changing forest colors, further highlighting the pristine beauty of the landscape.

Many tourists, when traveling through the mountain pass, proactively slow down and take the opportunity to stop and capture the rare moments of the mountains and forests.

“I’ve been to Mang Den many times, but this is the first time I’ve seen the crape myrtle forest change color so dramatically. Looking down from the bridge is a feast for the eyes, more like a scene from a movie than real life,” shared Mr. Nguyen Minh Thuan (a tourist from Da Nang City) while stopping his car to take pictures.

Even with just a short stop, the sight of the crape myrtle forest changing its leaves is enough to make a strong impression, becoming an unexpected highlight in the journey of exploring Mang Den for tourists.

The Mang Den mountain pass, already famous for its winding curves, cool climate year-round, and pristine landscape, is now even more captivating as the crape myrtle forest takes on a new look.

According to locals, the season when the crape myrtle trees shed their leaves is short and highly dependent on the weather. Therefore, this is considered a rare opportunity for tourists to experience a very different beauty of Mang Den – tranquil yet romantic and full of cinematic charm.
