Vietnam U.18 will compete with Korea U.18 at 2:00 p.m. on October 15 in an effort to leave the Seoul Cup 2023 international friendly tournament with a match worth watching.
After two defeats against U.18 Morocco (0-5) and U.18 Ukraine (2-3), coach Hoang Anh Tuan's players have gradually caught up with the intensity of the top teams. Especially in the match against U.18 Ukraine, U.18 Vietnam took the lead twice, but the decline in physical strength as well as the thin squad made Cong Phuong and his teammates lose.
U.18 Vietnam faced many strong teams in Korea in the past 5 days.
In the match against U.18 Korea, U.18 Vietnam played a confident defensive counter-attack, ready to push up to put pressure and organize quick attacks to find a goal. The aggressiveness and determination of the young Vietnamese team prevented the host Korea from scoring in the first half.
After a 0-0 draw in the first 45 minutes, in the second half, U.18 Vietnam maintained a solid, safe game and waited for the opportunity to strike. However, U.18 Korea was more confident when scoring 2 goals in the 55th and 66th minutes. The young team from the land of kimchi increased the pressure, at the same time swapping personnel with 3 substitutions and got a worthy victory thanks to their superior class.
U.18 Vietnam left the Seoul Cup 2023 friendly tournament with 3 losses. However, this is a necessary experience for coach Hoang Anh Tuan's young team to learn and mature.
Remember, this is the first time facing powerful football teams with young players like Cong Phuong, Dinh Thuong, Long Vu, Quang Kiet,... With a patchwork force, still having many gaps in technique, tactics and mentality, U.18 Vietnam needs to overcome defeat to accumulate more lessons for the future.
