The Vietnam U17 team had a friendly match with the Matsuyama University team on the afternoon of November 11.
With the aim of checking, evaluating the force and strengthening tactical plans, coach Cristiano Roland made many changes in the starting lineup compared to the previous match.
Accordingly, Tuan Vu takes the position of goalkeeper; the defense includes Minh Cuong, Manh Cuong, Dang Khoa and Anh Hao; the midfield includes Tri Dung, Duy Khang, Minh Loi, Van Nam, Sy Bach; and Long Nhat plays highest in the attack.
Due to many personnel changes and having to face older, more experienced opponents, the Vietnam U17 team was somewhat passive in the first minutes. However, after about the first 15 minutes, coach Cristiano Roland's students gradually regained control of the game, organized pressing and deployed the ball more coherently.
In the first half, the Vietnam U17 team created two clear opportunities, but Sy Bach and Hiep Dai Viet's shots could not beat the opposing team's goalkeeper.
In the second half, some tactical and personnel adjustments helped the U17 Vietnam team play better. In the 52nd minute, after Duy Khang skillfully handled the pressing situation, the ball was delicately passed for Manh Quan to escape and score the opening goal 1-0.
However, just a few minutes later, Matsuyama University was awarded a penalty and took advantage of it, equalizing the score 1-1. In the remaining time, coach Cristiano Roland continued to rotate the squad to create opportunities for other players. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, in a balanced and tested match.
As planned, the Vietnam U17 team will have the final practice match during their training trip in Japan, against U18 Ehime on November 13, before returning home to complete the final preparation stage for the 2026 Asian U17 Qualifiers.

The Vietnam U17 team will meet U18 Ehime on November 13 before returning home to prepare for the Qualifying Round.
The 1-1 draw against Matsuyama University has provided the young players with more international experience. This will be an important asset for coach Cristiano Roland and his team to aim to perfect their playing style, increase internal competition and reach the highest level of readiness before the tournament.
