Defeating U20 Jordan 2-0, U20 Japan won a ticket to the U20 World Cup 2023
After a series of victories in Group D, Japan U20 is considered the number one candidate to win the 2023 AFC U20 Championship. The team from the land of the rising sun is considered much better than Jordan U20 in the quarter-finals.

Japan U20 put pressure on the field, but they were quite deadlocked in the first half and did not create any clear chances. With a 0-0 draw in the first 45 minutes, Japan U20 continued to increase the pressure when entering the second half.
The efforts of U20 Japan were realized in the 54th minute, taking advantage of a very awkward technical situation from the U20 Jordan defender, player number 11 Sakamoto easily finished to open the score for Japan.
After the opening goal, Japan U20 were able to lift their spirits. They scored their second goal just 15 minutes later, with a beautiful close-range header from Naoki Kumata after coming on as a substitute.

In the semi-finals, U20 Japan will face U20 Iraq at 5:00 p.m. on March 15. The other semi-final between U20 Korea and host U20 Uzbekistan will take place at 9:00 p.m. on March 15. The final of the tournament will take place at 9:00 p.m. on March 18.
