Malaysia U22 coach Nafuzi Zain admitted that he could lose up to seven key players due to their Malaysian Super League schedule. Speaking at a training session on December 1, Mr. Nafuzi said: “Currently, seven players are definitely unable to participate. Some Selangor players can be registered thanks to discussions with club representatives, but other cases are not guaranteed.”

The 46-year-old coach emphasized the importance of the upcoming tournament, especially when Malaysia was eliminated early in the last two SEA Games due to defeat in the opening match.

“We understand that the SEA Games are not part of the FIFA competition schedule and clubs have the right not to release their players. But we hope that the teams will consider creating conditions,” Mr. Nafuzi shared.

Malaysia U22 team started gathering on November 25 but has been constantly short of players. Coach Nafuzi said that some players practice with the team one day, then have to return to play for their club the next day before re-gathering. This affects the players' ability to learn tactics from the coaching staff.

The men's football event of the 33rd SEA Games takes place from December 3-18. U22 Malaysia is in Group B with U22 Vietnam and U22 Laos. Group A includes U22 Thailand, U22 Timor Leste and U22 Singapore, while Group C includes U22 Indonesia, U22 Myanmar and U22 Philippines.

Football stadiums in Europe on fire On November 30, the match between IFK Norrkoping and Orgryte IS with a score of 0-0 in round 30 of the Swedish National Championship fell into chaos when the pitch caught fire due to flares thrown from the stands.
