U22 Vietnam has its first victory at the International Friendly Tournament in China. |
In the 80th minute, from a hard-fought dribble on the left wing, the ball was passed tightly into the middle by the U22 Vietnam players. Two U22 Chinese defenders were confused and did not clear the ball decisively, creating an opportunity for Pham Minh Phuc to quickly rush in and decisively finish, scoring against the home team. The goal was a worthy reward for the resilient play and constant efforts of coach Dinh Hong Vinh's players during the 90 minutes of official play.
Participating in the 2025 Panda Cup International Friendly Tournament, U22 Vietnam faced many difficulties when the players had to divide into 3 groups to go to China. In the opening match, coach Dinh Hong Vinh and his team faced the host U22 China, an opponent that was considered superior in terms of physique and physical strength. However, the players in white entered the match confidently, pressing fiercely and actively controlling the tempo of the match in the first minutes.
After about 20 minutes, U22 China gradually regained control of the game, increased the speed and created many dangerous attacks. However, the Vietnamese defense played disciplined, goalkeeper Cao Van Binh had reasonable moves in and out, and the central defenders covered tightly, helping the away team stand firm.
In the second half, coach Dinh Hong Vinh made a series of tactical adjustments. Van Thuan, Quoc Cuong, Minh Phuc, Ngoc My and Phi Hoang were brought onto the field one after another, bringing freshness and speed to the attack. Despite facing many difficulties against the home team's 5-3-2 defense system, U22 Vietnam still maintained a reasonable formation distance, played calmly and took advantage of rare opportunities to score.
Minh Phuc's goal not only helped U22 Vietnam achieve positive results but also showed the fighting spirit, cohesion and clear progress of the team on the journey towards SEA Games 33.
