On the evening of December 8, the defending SEA Games champion U22 Indonesia unexpectedly lost 0-1 to U22 Philippines. With this result, U22 Philippines became the first team to qualify for the group stage of SEA Games 33. Meanwhile, U22 Indonesia is at risk of being eliminated with no points (-1 goal difference). They must fight U22 Myanmar (0 points, -2 goal difference) in the final match on December 12.
But even if they win, the fate of U22 Indonesia could be decided soon. According to the tournament regulations, the top three teams in each group and the best second-placed team will qualify for the semi-finals of the 33rd SEA Games.

Currently, U22 Vietnam has the same 3 points as U22 Malaysia but is ranked 2nd in Group B due to a lower goal difference. Coach Kim Sang Sik's team will win the ticket to continue if they do not lose to U22 Malaysia in the last match (December 11). In case of a draw, U22 Vietnam and U22 Malaysia will both enter the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, the second-placed teams in Group A and C will definitely only have a maximum of 3 points. Even if U22 Singapore does not win U22 Thailand (Group A), and the match between U22 Indonesia and U22 Myanmar (Group C) does not have a win or loss, U22 Vietnam will advance even if they lose to U22 Malaysia.

Although the opportunity has opened up for U22 Vietnam, Coach Kim Sang Sik still requires the U22 Vietnam players to have the highest concentration. In recent training sessions, the Korean strategist has let his students practice many attacking strategies.
Obviously, U22 Vietnam is very confident in its ability to defeat U22 Malaysia, win first place in Group B, and enter the semi-finals of SEA Games 33.
