On the afternoon of December 1, right after settling down in Bangkok, the U22 Vietnam team entered their first training session, preparing for the opening match in Group B of the men's football event of the 33rd SEA Games.

The training session was mainly for relaxation after the long journey. The players were given the opportunity to warm up, get back into the game and get used to the weather and the training ground in Bangkok.

This is considered a warm-up step to help the whole team quickly regain their enthusiasm before entering important professional training sessions.

Before the training session, captain Khuat Van Khang shared his responsibility. The midfielder born in 2003 affirmed that the whole team is maintaining their determination and focus on the highest goal.

“Initially, 28 players or anyone would be worthy to participate. However, the tournament only allows 23 players to register. Those selected will have to make maximum efforts to meet the expectations of the coach and fans,” Van Khang said.

The captain of U22 Vietnam also said that the whole team is prioritizing improving coordination, cohesion and especially finishing efficiency, factors that caused the team to miss out on achievements at the previous SEA Games.

“In the previous SEA Games, the team did not achieve the desired results. This time, my teammates and I will be more determined to bring home the best results,” Van Khang shared.

Talking about wearing the captain's armband, Khang affirmed: "It is not pressure but motivation. I see it as a responsibility to try harder, support the team's spirit and push the whole team forward."

Evaluating the opponent in the opening match of U22 Laos, Khang said that this is a team with a good foundation, possessing many experienced players at the national team level. "The match will be very difficult to predict. U22 Vietnam will try their best to win," he emphasized.

According to the match schedule, U22 Vietnam will meet U22 Laos on December 3 at Rajamangala Stadium, opening the journey to conquer SEA Games 33 of the coach and his team.
