Maintain the stability of the frame
In this "training" period, head coach Kim Sang-sik called up 28 players. It can be clearly seen that the main frame of U22 Vietnam is still the faces that have been called up continuously since the end of 2024 until now.

This is a class of players who have accumulated a wealth of experience through many official international tournaments as well as high-quality training trips abroad.

U22 Vietnam gathers 28 players, preparing to attend SEA Games 33
In particular, the team has participated in the CFA Team China international football tournament three times - a playground that brings together the top U22 teams in Asia such as Uzbekistan, Korea and China.
However, the biggest loss for U22 Vietnam in the SEA Games 33 campaign is the absence of midfielder Nguyen Van Truong. Van Truong unfortunately suffered a knee ligament injury at the Panda Cup 2025 and was forced to undergo surgery.
Despite some difficulties in terms of personnel, U22 Vietnam is still completely proactive in following the roadmap that was built early with specific plans.

The foundation from the training process and continuous competition in international tournaments over the past long period will be the support for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team to confidently enter the 33rd SEA Games with the highest determination, aiming to compete for medals and continue to affirm the position of Vietnamese youth football on the regional map.
Determined to achieve the goal
At the 33rd SEA Games, U22 Vietnam is in Group B with U22 Malaysia and U22 Laos. According to the schedule, the team will face U22 Laos at 6:30 p.m. on December 4, then face U22 Malaysia at 6:30 p.m. on December 11.
The goal of coach Kim Sang-sik and his team is a ticket to the final, and more importantly, a gold medal after only winning a bronze medal at SEA Games 32.

Entering this year's campaign, U22 Vietnam possesses a generation of players that are considered to have great potential and are better prepared than before.
Regular exposure to international friendly tournaments, quality training trips and the youth strategy of Vietnamese football in recent times are creating a solid foundation for the journey at SEA Games 33.
On the training ground, each face clearly showed determination. The key players constantly tried to assert their leadership role, while the new talents saw this as a golden opportunity to break through.
The competitive yet cohesive atmosphere is creating excitement for the whole team. Everyone understands that the SEA Games gold medal, a title that once made Vietnamese football proud - is not only the goal of the coaching staff but also the responsibility to the fans.
Striker Bui Vi Hao affirmed that the whole team is very confident in the goal of winning the gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games. He emphasized: "The team has gone through many tournaments together and achieved success. We are completely confident in reaching the highest goal."

However, to win the gold medal, U22 Vietnam needs more than just tactical preparation. Competitive spirit, strong mentality and the ability to take advantage of opportunities will play a decisive role.
In knockout matches, a momentary lapse in concentration can derail a team’s progress, so the coaching staff constantly emphasize the importance of focus, discipline and fighting spirit until the end.
SEA Games 33 is therefore not just a tournament, but an opportunity for U22 Vietnam to affirm its position, demonstrate its maturity and continue its journey to conquer the top.
With determination, strong will and careful preparation, U22 Vietnam has every basis to aim for the highest goal.
