The match between U23 Malaysia and U23 Brunei quickly became an overwhelming performance by the yellow team.
In the third minute, Danish Syamer broke the deadlock with a precise header after a perfect cross from Aiman Yusuf. Just one minute later, the Brunei defense continued to make mistakes when a defender fumbled the ball into his own net, raising the score to 2-0 for Malaysia.
The game was completely tilted towards Malaysia with the ball possession time being superior, nearly 80%. In the 24th minute, Hakimi missed a golden opportunity when he pushed the ball too long in a face-to-face with the goalkeeper. However, just 8 minutes later, Danish Haykal scored the third goal with a chest control and a delicate finish after Hakimi's assist.
Before the first half ended, Haqimi Rosli continued to make his mark by running down and finishing into the top corner after a beautiful wall pass, raising the score to 4-0.
Despite being behind, U23 Brunei still played with great effort in the second half. However, they could not prevent the fifth goal in the 70th minute, when Danish Hakimi finished off a smooth triangle combination with an unstoppable shot.
In the remaining time, U23 Brunei scored an honorary goal, while U23 Malaysia scored two more goals to end the match with a resounding 7-1 victory, thereby regaining their spirit after the defeat in the opening match of U23 Southeast Asia 2025.
