On the afternoon of July 14, U23 Vietnam arrived in Indonesia, preparing for the 2025 U23 Southeast Asian campaign. Previously, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team departed for Indonesia from Tan Son Nhat airport (HCMC) on the morning of July 14. Five players not on the final list include: goalkeeper Pham Dinh Hai, Nguyen Hong Phuc, Ho Van Cuong, Nguyen Duc Viet and Bui Alex. Coach Kim Sang Sik highly appreciated the serious training spirit and efforts of all the players during the past time. However, because only 23 players can be registered, the Korean coach and his team must make the best choice based on the role, playing position and performance of each individual. U23 Vietnam participated in the U23 Southeast Asian tournament with highly rated players such as Nguyen Thai Son, Khuat Van Khang, Pham Ly Duc, Nguyen Dinh Bac and Nguyen Quoc Viet. However, Khuat Van Khang and his teammates face a big challenge due to the wave of naturalization from opponents Indonesia, Malaysia... The 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship takes place from July 15 to 29. Vietnam U23 won the championship in 2022 and 2023. U23 Vietnam is in the same group with U23 Laos and U23 Cambodia, competing on July 19 and 22 respectively.
