Despite playing with ten men in two extra time periods (due to Dinh Bac receiving a red card in the 86th minute), coach Kim Sang-sik's players showed resilience before winning 7-6 in the penalty shootout, thus securing the bronze medal at the tournament.

With goals from Quoc Viet and Dinh Bac in the third-place match against U23 South Korea, U23 Vietnam has scored a total of 10 goals at the 2026 AFC U23 Championship, surpassing the 8 goals scored at the 2018 AFC U23 Championship to set a new scoring record.
Of the 10 goals scored by Vietnam U23 at the 2026 AFC U23 Championship, Dinh Bac scored 4. The remaining goals came from Quoc Viet, Le Phat, Hieu Minh, Minh Phuc, Van Khang, and an own goal by a Kyrgyzstan U23 defender.
But most importantly, the victory in the third-place match against South Korea U23 was a strong affirmation of the maturity of the Vietnam U23 team.
Dinh Bac and his teammates knew how to bounce back after their semi-final defeat, thus creating a beautiful ending with a precious bronze medal. It was a meaningful gift that coach Kim Sang-sik and his team gave to their fans back home.
