The People's Committee of Gia Lai province has just issued a plan to implement the "Gia Lai Province Tourism Development Project for the period 2025–2030, with a vision to 2045," orienting tourism development towards sustainability and modernity, effectively exploiting the potential of natural and cultural resources, and gradually making tourism a key economic sector of the province.

The project is designed to concretize the goals, tasks, and solutions approved by the Provincial People's Council, and to serve as a basis for departments, agencies, and localities to develop annual plans and organize their implementation in a unified, synchronized, and effective manner. The focus of the project is on developing tourism in conjunction with the preservation and promotion of cultural, historical, and archaeological heritage values; exploiting the ecological advantages of mountainous forests, natural lake systems, the Central Highlands cultural space, Champa culture, and unique landmarks, aiming to build Gia Lai's image as a green, safe, friendly, and culturally rich destination.

Regarding objectives, by 2030, Gia Lai strives to make tourism a truly leading economic sector and an attractive destination for domestic and international tourists. Specifically, the province aims to welcome approximately 18.5 million visitors, including 1.1 million international visitors; achieve tourism revenue of approximately 45,500 billion VND; have approximately 33,000 accommodation rooms; an average length of stay of 3 days; and train over 25,000 people directly involved in tourism services. These specific targets demonstrate the province's determination to enhance the competitiveness of local tourism.

To achieve the set goals, the Provincial People's Committee has identified several key tasks, focusing on innovating thinking and raising awareness of the position and role of tourism as a comprehensive economic sector with interdisciplinary and interregional characteristics; and strengthening the effectiveness and efficiency of state management in tourism. At the same time, priority will be given to investing in the synchronous development of infrastructure and technical facilities; diversifying and improving the quality of key tourism products such as ecotourism, cultural and historical tourism, community tourism, resort tourism, science tourism, sports tourism, and MICE tourism.

In addition, the plan requires strengthening the promotion and branding of Gia Lai tourism; developing human resources to meet the requirements in terms of quantity, quality, and structure; promoting digital transformation and the application of technology in management, business, and enhancing the visitor experience; and strengthening linkages and cooperation in tourism development associated with the protection of resources and the environment, and ensuring national defense and security.

The plan also outlines key solutions such as improving mechanisms and policies to attract investment, creating a favorable environment for businesses and communities to participate in tourism development; promoting socialization and mobilizing diverse investment resources for infrastructure and products. The province focuses on improving the effectiveness of promotion and advertising in a professional and modern manner, linked with digital transformation and multi-platform communication; and developing high-quality tourism human resources through training, professional development, and collaboration with training institutions inside and outside the province.

In addition, Gia Lai encourages increased application of digital technology, building a smart tourism ecosystem; promoting inter-regional and international cooperation; improving the effectiveness of inspection, supervision, and management of tourism activities, protecting resources and the environment, aiming for sustainable and highly competitive tourism development.

The Provincial People's Committee assigns the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to take the lead in advising and organizing the implementation of the Plan; monitoring, urging, inspecting, summarizing and reporting on the results of implementation; and at the same time requests agencies, units and localities to seriously implement it according to the content and progress set forth.
