According to reporters from The Kyiv Independent on the scene, Russian forces launched a series of missile attacks on the Ukrainian capital shortly after midnight. Reports from the Ukrainian Air Force indicated that its air defense units detected “several missiles flying toward Kyiv at approximately 00:30 on May 24th.”
At approximately 00:55 on the same day, the Ukrainian Air Force issued another warning about the possibility of Russia using the advanced Oreshnik ballistic missile in attacks targeting several areas.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv city military agency, said explosions were recorded in the Shevchenkovskyi, Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi and Podil districts, injuring at least three people.

Several videos , cited by RT International from media and Telegram accounts in Ukraine, show multiple glowing objects plummeting from the sky before loud explosions erupt a few seconds later.
Russia has not yet confirmed the information about the use of Oreshnik missiles in the attack on the morning of May 24.
According to RT International , the attacks took place against the backdrop of Russian President Vladimir Putin recently directing the Russian military to prepare a response to Ukraine following the attack on the Starobelsk vocational college in Luhansk, which killed dozens of civilians.
