Ukraine could “provoke” direct conflict between the US and Russia
TASS news agency quoted an anonymous US expert when commenting on the decision to allow Ukraine to attack Russian territory with US weapons: Ukraine is capable of disregarding the conditions for using US long-range weapons in an attempt to “provoke” an open armed conflict between Moscow and Washington; at the same time, directly draw the US into action against Russia.
“ President Biden’s move represents an effort to bolster Ukraine’s faltering defenses in Kharkiv, while also seeking to avoid a radical escalation that would follow attacks on Moscow or Russia’s energy infrastructure ,” the US expert said.

According to US experts, Washington hopes that Moscow will show restraint, as has been the case with previous forms of US support for Ukraine. However, this is an extremely dangerous step, even if everything else is taken into account, there is still a risk that the Ukrainian government or military will ignore the restrictions set by the Biden administration and attack deep into Russia to “provoke” a confrontation between the two sides.
Earlier, the Pentagon confirmed that the US administration had agreed to allow Ukraine to attack Russian territory with US weapons. The next day, the German Cabinet announced that German weapons could be used to defend against Russian attacks in Kharkiv. However, there is currently no consensus among Western countries on limiting the use of their weapons in Ukraine.
According to Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, all long-range weapons transferred to Ukraine are directly controlled by NATO military personnel and such actions could lead to retaliatory attacks from Russia.
Revealing Biden's surprising plan for Ukraine
According to the American Conservative, the Biden administration wants to freeze the conflict in Ukraine.
“ The Biden administration just wants to keep the situation in Ukraine as it is until the next election, when Ukraine will become Trump's problem or the parties will think about the possibility of a peaceful solution, ” said Anatole Lieven, director of the Eurasia program at the Quincy Institute in the United States.
For those reasons, Washington is forced to prevent the collapse of Ukraine while not allowing the conflict to escalate to the point where Russia could react harshly, the American Conservative noted.
“ Ukraine is getting weaker. As Russian pressure on Ukraine increases, it becomes more and more difficult to continue on the current path, ” Mr. Lieven added.
On the Russian side, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that NATO countries are deliberately entering a new round of tension, provoking Ukraine to continue the senseless war. He stressed that this move will certainly have consequences and will ultimately cause great damage to the interests of those countries that have followed the path of escalating the conflict.
