Ukraine will receive the Vegvisir Core system in early 2024. The Estonian defense company Vegvisir announced that it has signed the first agreement on the supply of the Vegvisir Core system to Kiev.
“In partnership with Defsecintel, this system will be used to enhance situational awareness for Ukrainian vehicles. This is the first step in our efforts to support Ukraine and we will do more in the near future,” the statement said.
Vegvisir Core is a system jointly developed by Estonia and Croatia. It is a technology that allows users to observe, navigate, make decisions and act faster on the battlefield and in emergency situations. Simply put, according to the manufacturer, the system allows the crew of an armored vehicle to "see through steel" while sitting inside.
The system uses cameras, sensors and image processing algorithms to provide 360-degree images to the vehicle crew.
Through the system, the crew inside the armored vehicle can still see not only the surrounding environment but also the location of the enemy in real time at a distance of up to 10km.
Vegvisir is developed to NATO military standards.
The system provides information on the location of both friendly and enemy units on the battlefield by providing real-time data on position and direction of movement, and displaying the status of various vehicle functions. It can be integrated with other information systems and interfaces, allowing the vehicle crew to gain a complete picture of the front line for decision making.
