UNESCO recognizes Ho Chi Minh City as a creative city in the field of cinema

On October 31, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially announced the list of 58 cities enrolled in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network this year.

In particular, Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam is honored to become one of the new members in the film industry of the network, the first creative city in the film industry of Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

To date, Vietnam has 4 cities that are members of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network: Hanoi (design field, 2019), Hoi An (crafts and folk arts field, 2023), Da Lat ( music field, 2023) and Ho Chi Minh City (cinema field).

The Creative Cities Network, established by UNESCO in 2004, is a global network that promotes cooperation between cities that consider creativity as a strategic element of sustainable development in economic , social, cultural and environmental aspects. The network currently includes 408 cities from over 100 countries, representing 8 creative fields: crafts and folk arts, media arts, design, cinema, gastronomy, literature, music and architecture.
