In the remote mountainous areas, the journey to school for students is still full of hardships. Difficult family life, limited finances , and lack of school supplies make the road to school more difficult for them. Therefore, supporting and helping poor students to go to school becomes an urgent need, with profound humanitarian meaning.

In Se Pu-Ta Pang village (Huong Lap commune, Quang Tri province), Ho Van Uc, orphaned from a young age, lives with his elderly grandparents, living in extremely difficult conditions. There was a time when Ho Van Uc thought he would have to stop studying. After receiving information from the local authorities, Production Team 3 (Regiment 52) learned about the actual situation and provided financial support, coordinating with the school so that Uc could continue to go to school.

Leaders of Regiment 52, Economic - Defense Group 337, Military Region 4 visited and gave gifts to Ho Van Khoa.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Ho Van Khoa from Ma Lai Pun village (Huong Phung commune, Quang Tri province), although a 9th grade student at Huong Phung Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, is much smaller than his peers. His father died early, leaving his mother to raise 3 children alone, with an unstable income and dependent on a few fields, making Khoa's family life extremely difficult. Therefore, pursuing education has never been easy for him. Understanding his situation, Regiment 52 has sponsored Khoa with a support level of 600,000 VND/month. Notably, entering the 2025-2026 school year, the unit will also support him with an additional 2.5 million VND to help him buy new books and school supplies. Happy to go to school, Ho Van Khoa shared: “My family is very poor, if it weren’t for the help of the soldiers, I would not be able to go to school as regularly as I do now. Their care is the motivation for me to try harder every day.”

In the spirit of companionship and sharing, the agencies and units of Regiment 52 are taking care of 6 children and sponsoring 21 students with especially difficult circumstances. Along with that, the unit sends young intellectual volunteers to help students study and practice skills, especially those with poor academic performance. Officers and soldiers of Regiment 52 strengthen their presence in the villages, coordinate with the Party Committees and authorities of communes in the area to review and grasp the situation of disadvantaged students, and promptly have support plans. In addition to long-term sponsorship, officers and soldiers also bring timely encouragement gifts such as books, school bags, bicycles, winter clothes... to the children being cared for and sponsored at the unit.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ty, Principal of Huong Phung Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, said: “The sharing of officers and soldiers of Regiment 52 is a great source of motivation that not only helps students excel in their studies but also contributes to the school in improving the quality of education . Students see the concern of society, thereby living more responsibly and making more efforts.”

Representatives of Regiment 52, Economic - Defense Group 337, Military Region 4 presented gifts to students in the project "Army officers and soldiers help children go to school", September 2025.

The western area of Quang Tri is a mountainous border area with uneven educational levels and a high poverty rate... This creates many challenges in the process of socio-economic development and improving the quality of education in the locality. Identifying that improving people's education is the root of hunger eradication and poverty reduction, the Party Committee and commanders of Regiment 52 regularly lead and direct the promotion of the movement to sponsor poor students to overcome difficulties. This is not only a volunteer activity but also an important political task, contributing to building a solid "people's hearts" position in the strategic area. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Thang, Political Commissar of Regiment 52, said: “To continue to support children going to school, we closely coordinate with local authorities, schools and families, and at the same time direct cadres of production teams to go to each village and each household to effectively manage and use support resources so that children have more motivation and will to excel in their studies. This activity is included in the emulation movement, after each period, the unit organizes to draw lessons and evaluate results to draw experiences to operate better and better.”

Not only providing material support, the soldiers also participate in repairing houses, renovating study corners, building roads to schools, visiting and encouraging families of students in difficult circumstances. Many young soldiers said that every time they visit sponsored students, seeing them studying hard, smiling brightly when showing off their good grades, they feel the meaning of their work more.

The movement of sponsoring poor students also created a strong influence in the Regiment. Many groups and individuals have proactively contributed and saved allowances to join hands with the unit to support the children. From that companionship, the rate of local students dropping out of school has decreased significantly compared to previous years. Students are more diligent, more courageous and many have achieved good results in their studies.

In the midst of the difficult border strip, the military-civilian relationship has become a solid foundation for building a new life, improving people's knowledge, and strengthening national defense and security. The footsteps of poor students here still walk steadily to school every day, carrying hope with the support of the soldiers of Regiment 52./.
