The startup ecosystem plays an important role as an environment for sowing seeds, nurturing and promoting startup ideas and projects. Therefore, all levels, sectors and schools in the province always focus on incubation and developing the startup ecosystem.
Chu Dinh Vuong, a third-year student in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Hung Yen University of Technical Education, was inspired by his passion for scientific research during his studies at the school. With his own knowledge and skills and the encouragement and support of teachers at the school, in 2023, Vuong and his group of friends boldly participated in the Student Competition with Startup Ideas in 2023 launched by the school. Vuong's group participated in the project "Driver Attention Monitor". The system includes a camera and a microprocessor that analyzes the driver's facial features and, based on the number of distractions, driving time and driver habits, gives an appropriate warning level. The product is compact in size, easy to install and can be used on all car models at a reasonable price, making it accessible to many customers. The project won second prize in the school-level competition and was selected by the school to participate in the 6th "Students with Startup Ideas" competition in 2024 organized by the Ministry of Education and Training . With its uniqueness and high applicability, the project entered the final round of the ministerial competition. Student Chu Dinh Vuong shared: While studying at the school, I received encouragement, support, facilitation, and companionship from teachers and the school's Board of Directors in studying as well as participating in scientific research. It was the school and teachers who nurtured us to confidently build startup ideas as well as make efforts to design and manufacture models and products of the project to participate in the competition. This is a useful experience that helps us have more solid luggage on the path to starting a career in the future.
Like Chu Dinh Vuong students, many students in the province have had their startup dreams nurtured while still in school. With the knowledge and skills they have been equipped with and accumulated, along with the encouragement and support of schools, they have been able to confidently create and actively apply science and technology to turn ideas into models and products with high applicability in life.
In order to build and develop an innovative startup ecosystem, in recent years, the Department of Science and Technology has coordinated with all levels, sectors and units to organize many activities such as: Propaganda, training, seminars on developing science and technology enterprises, innovative startup ecosystem to a large number of organizations, individuals and enterprises in the province. Since the beginning of the year, the Department of Science and Technology has organized 4 conferences to promote and support startup activities for youth, students, enterprises, cooperatives... In addition, every year, competitions and creative competitions on science and technology and startups are organized with different scales and participants, attracting hundreds of authors and groups of authors.
Along with promoting the entrepreneurial spirit, connecting information to realize entrepreneurial ideas has been of interest to all levels, sectors, localities and units. At universities and colleges in the province such as: University of Finance - Business Administration, Hung Yen University of Technical Education, College of Mechanics and Irrigation, etc., every year they cooperate with businesses to organize activities for students to visit businesses; at the same time, connect and mobilize investment resources to turn students' ideas into specific products and projects serving production and business.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Principal of the University of Finance and Business Administration, shared: The school always creates conditions to encourage the spirit of scientific research among students, inspiring more and more new ideas and initiatives. In addition, the school supports students in developing creative ideas and soft skills; at the same time, actively connects businesses and employers to help students find suitable jobs after graduation. Through activities to encourage and incubate startups, it has helped develop scientific research projects into commercial products...
Developing a startup ecosystem is about generating ideas, connecting markets and organizing production. To maintain models and projects, it is necessary to have knowledge about management, business, and connecting investment capital to expand production scale. However, in Hung Yen province, developing a startup ecosystem still faces many difficulties due to lack of information about investment sources, programs and organizations supporting the development of the startup ecosystem. Enterprises and startups still face difficulties in accessing preferential credit sources to implement business projects; difficulties in demonstrating development potential to attract venture capital from funds, investors, etc.
Mr. Tran Tung Chuan, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, said: Implementing the decisions of the Prime Minister, the Provincial People's Committee has issued decisions to support the province's innovative startup ecosystem in the 2017-2020 period and the 2021-2025 period with the goal of creating a favorable environment to promote and support the formation and development of types of enterprises with the ability to grow rapidly based on the exploitation of intellectual property, technology, and new business models. The province encourages the establishment of "Startup Clubs", "Co-working Spaces", "Incubators"...
