According to information, in October 2025, based on monitoring and updating information from electronic information portals of product safety and consumer protection management agencies abroad, the National Competition Commission recorded a number of products and goods that were announced to be recalled abroad and could potentially affect consumers in Vietnam.

List of products and goods announced to be recalled abroad

Based on information and documents published by foreign authorities, the National Competition Commission informs Vietnamese consumers about a number of product recall programs being implemented abroad.

Specifically, according to the announcement from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Yamaha is voluntarily recalling two golf cart models: Yamaha golf carts manufactured in 2017 - 2024 may have brake failure, posing a serious risk of collision (about 4,300 cars are recalled) and Yamaha golf carts manufactured in 2021 - 2025 are not equipped with brake lights, posing a risk of accident.

Although there have been no reports of injuries related to the above products, Yamaha has decided to carry out a recall program to ensure consumer safety. Consumers who own this type of vehicle should stop using it and contact a Yamaha dealer to replace the brake pads and brake shoe or install two additional brake lights free of charge.

According to information from the European Commission (EC)'s product safety warning portal, the authorities of the Czech Republic, the Republic of Lithuania and the Republic of Italy discovered a number of deodorant and skin cream samples containing 2-(4-tert-butylbenzyl) propionaldehyde (abbreviated as BMHCA). This substance, also known by the trade name Butylphenyl methylpropional), is banned from use in cosmetics on the European market from 2022, due to its potential to harm consumers' health, especially affecting the reproductive system and causing skin irritation when used for a long time. These products have been widely distributed through many retail channels in Europe recently.

Some typical products are: Products of the Adidas brand - originating from Spain include: Adidas get ready! deodorant spray for men, 75ml black cap glass bottle; Adidas TEAM Force perfume, 75ml black cap glass bottle; Adidas get ready! shower gel for women, 250ml transparent plastic bottle. Products of the Nivea brand - originating from Germany include: Nivea Anti-spot face cream (40ml); Nivea Crema giorno anti brufoli face cream (50ml); Nivea free time shower gel (250ml); 2-in-1 shower gel and shampoo "Nivea fitness fresh" (250ml)...

Pursuant to Regulation (EU) No. 2021/1902 of the European Commission on cosmetic products, consumers in the European region are advised to immediately stop using the products and contact the supplier or place of purchase for instructions on return or refund. Accordingly, the competent authorities will apply additional measures to the products subject to recall such as destroying the products, withdrawing the products from the market, prohibiting the marketing of the products and implementing related measures.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of approximately 280 Belivium infant mattresses due to failure to meet mandatory safety standards, posing a risk of suffocation, falling, or entrapment for young children. The products were distributed on the Amazon e-commerce platform from November 2024 to August 2025, and come in a variety of colors and designs.

To ensure safety, consumers here are advised to immediately stop using, cut off the padding and product, take a photo of the destroyed product and email it to [email protected] for a full refund. There have been no reported injuries related to the product.

On October 30, 2025, Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd. – the parent company of the Muji brand (abbreviated as Muji) – announced the recall of approximately 600,000 bottles of room fragrance sprays belonging to the “Room Fragrance Spray” line. The recalled products include 11 types of scents such as woody, green, etc., sold from September 2024 in the Japanese market because the manufacturer discovered that hygiene management at the production line was not guaranteed, leading to bacterial contamination.

Although the bacteria was determined to pose minimal risk to human health and there have been no reports of illness related to this issue to date, Muji has decided to carry out a recall to ensure consumer safety.

National Competition Commission recommendations for consumers in Vietnam

According to the recommendation of the National Competition Commission, the above products have been recalled in many countries due to potential risks to the health and safety of consumers. In the context of strong development of cross-border shopping activities, especially through international e-commerce and hand-carried goods and gifts, these products are still likely to be brought into the Vietnamese market.

To ensure the safety of consumers' lives, health and property, the National Competition Commission recommends that consumers: Monitor warning information and product recalls officially announced by domestic and foreign management agencies; do not use or immediately stop using products with similar characteristics to products that have been warned or recalled abroad; carefully check information on origin, brand and batch code of products before purchasing, especially with imported products or products purchased through international e-commerce platforms; contact the authorized distributor, authorized dealer or place of purchase to verify information and receive appropriate handling instructions (return, refund, recall...).

The National Competition Commission continues to monitor, synthesize and update information on product recall programs and consumer safety warnings from competent authorities and international organizations on consumer protection to ensure the rights and safety of Vietnamese consumers.
