This information was shared with the press by MSc. Hoang Hong Mai, Deputy Head of the National Immunization Program Office, on November 14.
According to MSc. Hoang Hong Mai, the roadmap for introducing new vaccines into the National Expanded Immunization Program for the 2021-2030 period is stipulated in Resolution 104/NQ-CP dated August 15, 2022 of the Government .
In practice, in the 2023-2024 period, the Rota vaccine has been included in the free expanded immunization program. By 2026, this vaccine will be deployed nationwide, ensuring that children in all provinces and cities receive two free doses.
Also in 2025, the Program will deploy free pneumococcal vaccination according to a gradual expansion roadmap in provinces and cities, due to the current high cost of this vaccine.
Regarding the cervical cancer vaccine, the National Expanded Immunization Program is in the process of introducing the human HPV vaccine for free injection. This vaccine not only prevents cervical cancer but also some diseases such as genital warts in boys.
According to the roadmap of Resolution 104/NQ-CP, HPV vaccine will be included in the Expanded Immunization Program in 2026. In 2030, seasonal flu vaccine will also be deployed for free injection in the National Expanded Immunization Program.

Infectious diseases in children are reduced hundreds of times.
From a professional perspective and having worked with the National Expanded Immunization Program for a long time, the implementation of the National Expanded Immunization Program has changed the disease structure in children under 5 years old and under 1 year old in our country, when the rate of infectious diseases such as diphtheria, whooping cough, measles, etc. in children has decreased hundreds to thousands of times.
Currently, the National Expanded Immunization Program has become a part of people's lives. Through her work in localities, Ms. Mai also said that only in big cities do parents choose to vaccinate their children, while in provinces near Hanoi such as Ninh Binh, Ha Nam (old), Nam Dinh (old), especially in mountainous provinces such as Ha Giang (old), Cao Bang, almost 100% of children are vaccinated in the National Expanded Immunization Program. The rate of vaccination in these provinces is very low.
The National Expanded Immunization Program has been implemented nationwide since 1985. After nearly 40 years, the program has achieved many important achievements. The rate of children under 1 year old who are regularly fully vaccinated is over 90%. Vietnam eliminated polio in 2000 and neonatal tetanus in 2005.
Currently, the Expanded Immunization Program is providing free 12 vaccines to prevent 11 common infectious diseases for children and pregnant women.
In order to raise public awareness of the importance of vaccination, and encourage the community to access official information and actively participate in disease prevention and control, on November 14, the Central Center for Health Communication and Education in collaboration with the Department of Disease Prevention and the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology organized an "Online quiz contest to learn about the Expanded Immunization Program in Vietnam". The contest aims to contribute to spreading the message of safe, timely and complete vaccination.
The contest is held nationwide online. The contest period is from November 14 to December 10, 2025 after 2 rounds. Contestants are Vietnamese citizens living and working in the country, participating by declaring personal information and taking the multiple choice test on the official website: https://cuocthitimhieutcmr.org.
