"The adjustment of the competition schedule and venue has somewhat affected the team's preparation plan. However, we have proactively prepared a response plan upon receiving the information, so currently the preparation work is basically going smoothly" - Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Leader of the U22 Vietnam team at the 33rd SEA Games - said.
On the eve of the 33rd SEA Games, the organizing committee of the host country Thailand was forced to move the events held in Songkhla, including men's football, to a new location due to severe flooding in the locality. The group stage of the U22 Vietnam team was moved to Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok), and the opening match with U22 Laos was also pushed up 1 day earlier (December 3) instead of December 4 as originally scheduled.
According to Vice President Tran Anh Tu, VFF had previously sent people to assess the situation and prepare plans, including transportation to avoid difficult traffic conditions in Bangkok. Thanks to that, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team were able to comfortably focus on professional work.

On the afternoon of December 1, after arriving in Bangkok, the U22 Vietnam team settled down and had their first training session at 5 p.m. to help the players get used to the weather and climate and recover their physical strength. Mr. Tran Anh Tu said that the players are all in good physical condition, mentally comfortable and optimistic.
At the 33rd SEA Games, the goal of the Vietnam U22 team is to reach the final match and strive to win the gold medal. The pressure on coach Kim Sang-sik and his team is predicted to be very high in the context of the host Thailand having the home field advantage and being very determined to win all the gold medals in football.

According to Mr. Tran Anh Tu, the U22 Vietnam team has also had a thorough and long-term preparation. "The U22 Vietnam team has actually been stable and trained continuously throughout the past year. We have had three training trips in China, a quality training trip in Qatar, won the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, and then won all the qualifying rounds for the 2026 Asian U23 Championship. That is the whole process of thorough and continuous preparation, to help the team achieve the best condition for the 33rd SEA Games" - Mr. Tran Anh Tu said.
